Sad to see the show end after so many years. Intrigued to see what they do with their new podcast, sounds like it’s going to be a bit of a blend of the traditional film review show and the Home Entertainment series they did back during lockdown, so TV reviews and probably Mayo more involved on that side of things too
This sucks. Is Kermode still carrying on with The Film Review or will he be gone from the BBC altogether? I never deliberately watched that anyway, it wasn’t worth it for the 10 minutes or whatever it’s on for.
It’s hard to believe that film is so marginalised now that the BBC doesn’t feel that a 2 hour radio show is worth it. I’m glad they’re going to carry on though, I just hope it remains worthwhile for them both without the BBC backing them.
Sorry, no Mads content here, just a sad goodbye to a couple of fellow film geeks. Can’t wait to see what they do next.

Thankfully they’ll be back in early May with a new twice weekly podcast.

Kermode’s podcast is a must-listen to. Really fun when he and Jack Howard discuss and argue film.
