I bet you at that moment he wished he could came out
In a puddle of tears
The full video of this might be my favorite YouTube video of all time. Absolutely amazing.
I’ve never seen this before, and George Michael’s vocal range probably could have allowed Queen to continue to tour and play all the hits. (not that it would be the same but it would be a pretty cool close second)
Talented guy. He came to really resent the Faith album, unfortunately. Great singer.
Upvoted before even hitting “play”. This always gives me the same level of goosebumps as any of the legendary Freddie Mercury/Queen live footage (Live Aids, Wembley ’86, etc).
Not a cell phone in sight. Those were the days.
That smile from Brian May at the end – wonderful moment on such an emotional day.
Was that Brian May on the guitar, or someone with similar hair?
Saw it live when it was on. Goosebumps then, goosebumps now. I miss George.
Instant cold chills, indeed. Holy shit.
Were there just more people in the 90s?
Good times!
My twin sister was at this gig! Whenever I hear this song on the radio I tell her i heard her No 1 hit single 😂❤
Were he and Freddie ever, um, friendly?
AWESOME !!!
thank you for posting this!
Is that Ellen on the drums?
He is one of the best vocalists of all time.
If Freddie’s Live Aid performance was the best love performance of all time, this is arguably number 2.
Every single time I watch George Michael perform here I get chills.
Two amazing talents who both left us way too soon.
Where was this amazing show held. I’m ashamed to say I don’t know
Uplifting even now some 30 years later
This is insane, I had no idea this existed and was telling someone today about how george michael would’ve made a great replacement for freddie
With Boris Johnson on the drums ! He found a job he likes !
Tears. Thanks for posting
Freddie paved the wsy for artists like George Michael.
Right after Freddie died I immediately thought George Michael would’ve been a great replacement.
so now I’m crying. thnx internet
George Michael is one of the few who could do a Queen song justice. Amazing!
Wow, so avoidable given our current understanding of and treatments available for HIV/Aids
George did a phenomenal job with the vocals for the tribute.
That was a beautiful man, inside and out
This was THE moment of the entire show – period.
I will go as far as to say that this is the superior/definitive version of this song.
I like to believe Brian May smiled because he pictured Freddie nodding in approval of that fact.
Always thought (hoped) GM would front Queen after this and maybe even write music together
Can you imagine what a GM – Queen collab would’ve sounded like?
Spoiler Alert: Heaven – it would’ve sounded like Heaven.
Who in 2022 could pull that off?
WOW amazing. How have I not seen this before?!? Gave me goosebumps
I LOVE this version of the song. George Michael rocks this so well. I like it better than the original
George
Georges love of his life Brazilian fashion designer Anselmo was battling HIV/AIDs at the time of this concert (he would die a year later) and George himself said that the tragedy of knowing that he was losing his first true love added to his performance of the song
What a sea of people!
the only way to bring back audiences like this is to ban phones on live shows
Cool. A clip where he doesn’t sing for 75% of its duration.
I’m getting anxiety just looking at how packed that crowd is.
George Michael was fucking awesome. What a talent.
Should have toured with Queen after this. It would have been much better than with Paul Rodgers.
I could watch this over and over again. He was an awesome talent and I am so glad I got to see him in concert. Just amazing.
I love George voice but I think, at least in this quick clip, most of the work is done by the people in chorus. The biggest forgotten in music.
