Honest question from someone who doesn’t watch rugby – are forward laterals allowed?
In American football if the ball is caught at a position that’s ahead of where it was lateraled it is illegal. Even if the player appears to toss it backwards – if the momentum of the person running results in the ball traveling forward it is illegal.
In the play linked by OP if you slow it down the ball is caught ahead of where the ball was released. Is this legal?
Edit: specifically referring to that last pass
There was two laterals that looked slightly forward … s/B whistled dead and possession loss o thought.
I don’t know rugby much either.

Honest question here. Is there a difference if they get tackled under the goal posts or outside? The reason I ask is because the announcer said, “under the post, close enough.”
