She’s fuckin’ rad.
Wouldn’t mind listening to a properly mixed version of this. Quality of the mic kinda took me out of it.
not my kinda music but pretty cool
Amazing song,love her performance
This sounds like something kanye would sample and use in a song
This is so fucking good. I love her voice.
I loved her on NPR tint desk concert
I hope this style of music is the music of the future. I could see this in a futuristic adaptation of Shakespeare
Here’s her doing a few songs for the Tiny Desk show: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n6oSeODGmoQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n6oSeODGmoQ)
You put spooky in a title and I’m here for it
That gave me some sort of hybrid spooky/frisson chills. Awesome stuff.
I saw her open for the Decemberists a couple years ago and was terrific. She had a trio with her. They brought her back on for the encore and she blasted such a wicked fiddle solo on Rusalka, Rusalka. It was magical.
I went to HS with Gaelynn. We didn’t really know each other, but she’s an awesome human and has always been incredibly talented! Great to see her getting some positive attention!
This chick here is honestly inspiring
I saw “spooky violin folk” and thought, ‘Okay, I’ll bite.’ Glad I did!!
What an absolute banger. Holy fuck. I couldn’t wait for her to get back on the violin. Idk if I agree with the whole “spooky folk violin” thing, is that actually a genre? this song is absolutely beautiful. Reminds me of Lapalux.
Karl Pilkington approves
Twin Peaks vibes.
I saw her on the Pigface tour last year. Great show and a very nice person.
Haunting for sure, really gets under your skin, especially the wailing of the violin, almost theremin like.
Duluth, Minnesota represent!
Very cool and moving music, thanks for posting; seems like a very special lady — however i’m not sure these people like being referred to as “spooky violin folk”
Is spooky violin folk a real genre? Hahah.
Saw her live recently, and talked with her after the show. Really cool lady, phenomenal musician. I’m very glad she’s found ways to share her talents with the world.
“Moment of Bliss” is amazing.
BTW, this song is featured in a new documentary by Harrod Blank called “Why Can’t I Be Me! Around You” about a mechanic in Albuquerque, New Mexico named Rusty Tidenburg who comes out as trans. It’s a beautiful film and when I heard this song I immediately went online to find more of Gaelynn’s work.
She is an amazing soul, and this song is a perfect reflection of Rusty’s bittersweet journey.

It took me a while to figure out how she was triggering loops. I like her. I would like to hear some harmony and reverb on those vocals. Haunting tune.
Here’s her bandcamp if you want to purchase her music [https://gaelynnlea.bandcamp.com/](https://gaelynnlea.bandcamp.com/)
Thank you, OP. I would have never stumbled across her on my own. This is beautiful stuff.
I believe I’ve seen her tiny desk performance a while back. Her performances are always very emotional.
Saw her on NPR Tiny desk concerts. I feel ashamed to not have pursued my dreams with her passion.
I watched a video of her playing violin and singing in a library a little while ago and I was really hopeful that she’d be able to find an audience because she’s very talented and I really enjoyed listening to her play/sing.
A couple of my friends are very close with Gaelynn. I ended up briefly crashing her birthday party at Hoops Brewing in Duluth.
Wow this is powerful. I’m fascinated and inspired by this performer.
Oh My God! I love her! The lyrics are amazing. Thank you for showing me this.
Thank you for posting this. She is mesmerizing.
Saw her this summer. Amazing. Wanted to talk to her but geeked out.
This song is set to a very cool animation of a forrest fire at the end of an episode of adults swims “off the air” titled “fire”.
Wow. Hauntingly beautiful.
Hey I know her! I was so pumped when she won tiny desk concert contest. She’s seriously one of the nicest people I’ve met playing music
I didn’t realize “spooky violin folk” was a genre but now I’m super into it
Wow, lived in duluth 2009-2014 and saw her frequently playing bars, opening for touring bands and just grinding away at her music. I moved away and havent thought about her since, then bam! Front page of reddit. Good for her! Glad shes doing so well!
The fuck did I just watch
Shivers. Thank you for sharing
This was really awesome, Great Violin play, my first time seeing this artist, She is amazing. When I first saw it thought it was like an animation until I looked closely and saw she is real, awesome talent, simply Heavenly.
