I’m not sure why but even though I enjoyed this film, it just came across as odd. As if Hitchcock took the script of a schlocky British thriller of the era and sort of Hitchcocked it up.
I went on a Hitchcock run a couple of years ago and this movie was towards the top of my list. Probably not top 5 but it stuck with me more than some of his more known classics, maybe because of how twisted it was. Similar to Rope but Rope I think was my favorite.
One of my favorite Hitchcock films. It’s an odd one, about a rapist murderer with comedic relief from the police inspector and his wife. The dinner scene is hilarious. Even the ending has a humorous touch with that last line.
Very different in contrast to say, Shadow of a Doubt.
