The best is when the studio came back to Fred to do a Munster’s movie…he hated the role of Herman…so his wife said give them a ridicules number to get paid…that they won’t do the movie. They said yes and he was forced to do it. But he got paid the big money.
Lewis once told the New York Times…”I have bird-dogged high-school basketball since 1934. I have seen more high-school games than Dean Smith and Lou Carnesecca combined.”
My grandfather sold Fred Gwynne a set of encyclopedias when he was a young man. He sold them to pay for college back when door to door sales were still a thing. Not knowing who’s house it was, he knocked on the door and freaking Herman Munster comes to answer. Said he was a really nice guy and ordered the most expensive set from him.
Saw this on Facebook today and thought it was cool and possibly even old school
Who are da two utes ?
Yo thats the neighbour from Pet Sematary. Handsome dude!
She likes her some Fred Gwynne.
Schnauser and Muldoon
Apologies to Al Lewis but he really looked like Grandpa Munster even without the makeup.
My brother noted years ago on Car 54 that they are almost the same height.
Get you a girl who looks at you, the way she’s looking at Fred
Isn’t that Pat Priest (Marilyn Munster)?
The girl in the photo wasn’t a fan, she was a character on the same show! Marilyn Munster.

“Gee, Mr. Gwynne, you’re so tall! Is it true, what they say about tall men?”
*Al Lewis and Fred Gwynne
Listing them in the order they appear in the photo makes it easier for folks who don’t know these guys.
Al Lewis was also a bird-dog basketball scout.

I never realized how insanely handsome Herman Munster is IRL
Isn’t that Pat Priest? She was Marilyn (daughter on the show)
Fuck Fred Gwynne was a handsome mother fucker
Someone should have told Fred that smoking stunts your growth.
Did you say *youts*?

Fred Gwynne is great. Loved his books like “The King Who Rained” as a kid!
Are you sure those were fans and not costars?
“The two yutes?”
Fred was a cool MF
Ed Helms bears a passing resemblance to Gwynne
And Al was only 3 years older than Fred.
Did you say “yutes”?
Oh I loved him!! He was a nice looking guy! He’ll always be Jud from Pet Cemetery to me.
Loved Fred Gwynne. I thought he should have been nominated, and won best supporting actor for his brilliant role as the judge in My Cousin Vinny.
I think Fred Gwynne was a very distinguished looking man. Especially in Cotton Club.
