Ah cool, just reading Rise of Endymion which has a section set there, see what desert masonry and canvas light is very well in this picture.
Thanks!
This *isn’t* the one where a gruesome multiple hatchet/fire murder took place.
Mr. Wright went out to visit the place soon after it was built ( maybe while it was still being built), and was so miserably hot he had to wrap himself in wet sheets to sleep at night. No a/c in those days, but surprised they didn’t have swamp coolers like we did in Albuquerque.
is that a fireplace?
Working in that space would be like working inside a collapsed meatloaf
Visited in March. Beautiful living quarters
It’s a beautiful place. The property works so well in the environment. I’ve been fortunate to have visited there and his Oak Park home outside of Chicago and highly recommend checking them out if you’re interested in his work.
The janky angles make me feel dizzy. I love the stonework, though.
I was their little over a year ago was really neat to see the whole complex.
