I was completely overwhelmed, it blew apart all my expectations. Shocked by the work put in from the cast and acting to the costumes, ships, Visual Effects to sound. Simply phenomenal Top tier Sci-Fi at its best. Apple should be extra proud.
I sat down to watch the first episode of Foundation last night for the first time and ended up binging five! Lol. Really good show. I hope they keep it going.
It’s honestly one of the best most original scifi I have seen in a while.
That being said, I was initially turned off by making the two main characters woke, but my complaint only goes so far as pandering to todays audience, they are both great. Plus, Hari is perfectly cast.
I do love some of the creative writing and liberties they have taken with the stories. But, I don’t love how they have twisted themselves into a pretzel to keep these main characters resurrected each crisis. Plus the 2nd Foundation is a mess, the mule is all wrong, and idk about the android in the empire, who is excellent but all wrong.
I might have enjoyed this show if it didn’t say it was based on the books.
The problem for me is that the books were idea driven. Time runs rapidly as you see the results of Seldon’s ideas. The drama surrounding Seldon in the first season was entirely unnecessary and distracting.
The books were memorable. I read them decades ago but still remember Psychohistory, the foundation and some of the characters. The vision is monumental as you see the rise and fall of galactic civilization.
The dialogue in the books was not GRR Martin level but characters were smart.
I pushed through the first season constantly hoping it would improve but it just never properly developed the breadth or the imagination of the books.
There’s one turn involving Seldon and a lover’s spat in the first season where after watching, I turned off the show and cancelled Apple Plus.
It looks beautiful for sure. But it doesn’t resemble the books and the ideas, which is what made the books so great.
In the series, in the prequel books that seem to be the basis for the series, it’s about setting safeguards and protections for a grand plan to protect the future of humanity. There are robots, telepaths, double crosses, political intrigues and a wide array of fascinating characters.
I couldn’t recognize the books in the series, with the exception of Hari Seldon, who was excellently cast.
Just finished season 2. There are definitely some unintended moments of comedy, and some baffling narrative twists, but who gives a shit, this show is fun as hell.
I’ve been enjoying this show but I really hope the gale/terminus story improves in season three. Season 1 and 2 were a slog when they were on the screen.
**Judging** by the comments here; I’m glad I didn’t read the book, because this is one hell of a show. I haven’t been this excited about a sci-fi show in a very long time. So, I will read the books afterward.
Loved the show, hope to see more of it!
I really really enjoyed Asimov foundation series. I’m not going to judge the series but.. uhh.. the books are spectacular
When is season 3?!

Easily one of the best shows on Apple TV+

this series is utmost, shamefull, complete & arrogant destruction of Asimov´s perfect books. Cancelled my Apple TV over it.
The production values in this show are insane. I’m totally immersed in the universe they’ve created. It actually looks and feels vast.
Show got better as it went, I liked the humor in the last season
how is Brother Day compared to the books? have not read them but really love how he has handled himself in the role.
Foundation is the first show in a long time that has captured me.
Parts of it I like, parts are dogshit
Lee Pace is amazing but foundation is just really shit, the acting is terrible Barr a few actors
I loved the books. Is season 1 any good?
Do you know why Lee Pace has such broad shoulders? Because he’s CARRYING this show.

Haven’t seen this show, but the guy I the thumbnail looks like an Isu Warrior from Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey

An amazing show
This is extraordinary! Just let go of the books – they are inspiration only, not the script.
Horrible show that has nothing to do with the book it’s named after. Terrible disappointment b
