First clip from “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny”

  • This is a pretty innocuous clip for how much folks in this thread dislike it.

I don’t really have high hopes for the movie but if you watched this and thought “ugh terrible”, you’re probably just looking for reasons to be angry/upset. A kind of silly car chase like this is *very* Indiana Jones. (For better or worse)

  • It’s not a bad clip at all. Captures the Indy spirit and is well filmed. It still kind of annoys me because there’s no originality. You got the circus music, silly dialog during a serious situation.. i don’t think i can dig it.

  • I just recently saw the first 3 indie movies, and this clip felt very much like the other movies, which gives me hopes this can be a fun and final film for the series. I don’t consider crystal skull part of the series that one I didn’t like, lol.

  • If the range of reactions to your first clip are “terrible” to “not that bad” and “just as cheesy as the original movies” you might be in trouble.

Raiders doesn’t look like this. That’s a ridiculous assertion.

  • Looks like a fun scene. My only concern with this film is the chemistry between Harrison Ford and Pheobe Waller Bridge. If they work well together then I think we’re looking at a masterpiece on the same level as the original trilogy.

  • I feel like re-watching the other Indy movies, but maybe somebody can help me out since it’s been a while. I get Indy is all about silly quippy dialogue, and ridiculous action scenes. But have we seen them taking place simultaneously? My gut reaction to this clip is “this is not how this character usually talks or acts during a life-threatening situation. Over the top? Of course. Carrying on a mundane conversation as if they know they have plot armor? Not that I remember outside Crystal Skull. I couldn’t imagine a conversation like this happening between Indy and Marion during the horse chasing truck scene, or even Indy and Willy during the raft scene… maybe before or after. I guess Indy + Sean Connery did this a lot but Connery gets a pass because The tone there was more Buddy Comedy.
