  • One of the best Remakes of all time. Its up there with the original as one of the best games ever… maybe even better. Cant wait for the mercenaries mode and the DLC that its rumored

  • I might have to get it. I still have RE4 on PS2 of course; it was the Resident Evil that actually got me into the series, not being able to finish RE2 and 3. It just clicked for me big time.

If I played it again after all these years, it would probably feel plenty new. I don’t know what sort of updates/upgrades they made but I imagine they’re worthwhile.

    I loved The Village, too.

  • It’s definitely a 10/10 for me too. But so was Dead Space. I can’t decide which one is better maybe *slightly* Dead Space for me but it’s almost not even worth choosing they are evenly tied.

It’s funny that the GOTYs are all Remakes so far.

  • It’s a good game, but don’t act like there aren’t valid criticisms. They’ve cut the transforming scenes for all bosses, you see them normally, cuts away, come back and they have transformed. Clearly they didn’t have the time and or budget to make these scenes. They also don’t have mercenaries mode, or the Ada Wong playthrough, which we will have to pay for as dlc.

9/10. Save the 100%s for a game that is perfect plz.

  • I am in a quandary. I have never played RE2 (didn’t own the consoles), and have played RE4 and own it on PC(the original). I am not sure which to buy first: RE2 Remake or RE4 remake. I already know I loved RE4, so RE4 remake will for sure be good (after all the people talking about how good it is). I have also heard they did a good job on the RE2 remake though, and I have never played the game before. Any suggestions from people that have played both?

  • GOTY, yes. I don’t even care what else is coming out this year. 👏👏👏👏👏

The only thing I would improve is Leon’s movement speed. It feels like he’s walking in tar. And yes, I know you walk slower when you’re damaged. That wasn’t the issue. 😅

  • Beat the game as well. It was fantastic. The knife rework with parrying was fun, and the gun play was as good as ever. There were a few things I had gripes with however:

    * **Inventory Management**: Why did Capcom remove the ability to store non weapon items into storage? This just feels arbitrarily limiting.
    * **Leon has Parkinson’s disease**: I understand having your hands shake a little bit when holding a gun, but man it is legit full on tremor shakes in this game
    * **Out of Breath**: Followers constantly pant when you run barely any distance at all. Sometime it seems like they do it completely random. Its really annoying
    * **Gun with a lot of Bark**: Leon grunts practically every time you aim his weapon. It’s unnecessary and annoying

Just minor stuff, otherwise the game is near perfect

  • Extremely good remake, I still have two chapters left but I might honestly prefer it to the OG, maybe. Literally my only complaint is that “evade” feels super unresponsive at times and that modern movement systems of basically trying to make moving as real as possible makes it awkward to move and a bit unpredictable of when animations end, but that is a complaint I have with a lot of modern games in general so not a knock.

    10/10 will play again.

  • Is it really “game of the year” if they literally took an old game and slapped new textures/animations on it?

I personally save the GOTY designation for games which try new things and succeed.

  • I… Think it’s a good remake, but still think it’s the beginning of the downfall of RE as a franchise as a whole. 4, 5 and 6 are all godawful RE games to me, with 4 being a good action game, 5 a good co-op game and I can’t say anything good about 6. 7 was the return to survival horror to me, and felt like I was back in resident evil.

RE 4 just feels like I enter a room, kill 40 to 60 enemies then go to the next room and repeat. It doesn’t have any horror vibe to me anymore. Especially some of the later chapters where it tells me I’ve killed 100 enemies on the after chapter report on Hardcore.

Again, I ain’t saying it’s a bad game overall, just doesn’t feel like Resident Evil to me. Your own experience may vary however!

    Edit:

Discussion with a friend brought up that perhaps what I’m looking for genre was to call it is action survival more than just action or survival horror. A pretty good statement he made to me I think.

  • My ONLY issue so far is that Salazar is too fucking hard. I died maybe once or twice at all other points of the game, but I lost to Salazar 12 god damn times before I gave in and switched to Assisted – failing to notice that you can’t go back to Standard, so the remainder of the game was too easy.

  • It’s so stupidly god tier man, I’m having a blast struggling to stay on top of ammo all over again. Not being sarcastic either, this game is top and I don’t even think it’s up for debate.

My favorite change is Ashley being properly fleshed out as her own character and not some damsel in distress with an annoying voice. There are Ashley segments in the original game of course but her English VA in the remake fucking nailed the performance and it is much more convincing.

First time I heard Ashley scream (I had just taken an axe to the face lol) I almost shat myself. The scream was raw/ visceral and it really set the tone for me after. Such a phenomenal job setting up a downright creepy atmosphere as well, graphical changes really helped this game finally settle on its scare factor. The original was so fun but it was infinitely more campy, it also lacked a good creepy factor as well imo.
