As a kid I was a legend until I became an adult. Mostly I had to use my own desk and there wasn’t room to move the keyboard way over for my left hand. I still think the ergonomics of the number pad are preferable for gaming but I got used to wasd.
My first keyboard on the IBM PC XT did not have separate arrow keys. Until this day I keep numlock off because I am so used with the arrows on the numpad.
Also my default hand position is right hand on numpad arrows, left hand on ctrl alt and space:
May i add that the C64 had 2 (two) cursor keys. One for up/down and one for left/right. And you had to hold shift to go left or up. The first RPG and strategy games i played used them for movement. Going from that to 4 cursor keys on an IBM keyboard was an improvement.
1235 vs 2468

But how do i hit g from there?
Forgot the normal arrow keys plus the bizarre configuration of letters.

Besiege players:

ESDF is the superior config.
I once bought a numpad just for Gaming so I could arrange it more comfortably to my left Hand (right Hand = mouse).
I’ve been all 3 in reverse order

I remember being so confused as a kid when the mouse became an option to look around and fire in FPS games.
legends one is basically the 2nd player on local coop
I play Tboi using Numerical because my arrows are broken
People use number pads? That means directional controls are on the right hand? That would feel so weird to me.
Little Fighters 2, when 3 people had to play on one keyboard
Before mouse, I used to play FPSs and driving games with the numpad…circa 1987-92
Actually, is the opposite

Numpad, as a lefty i always used it. I would demos to see if a game had a key mapping system. If no mapping system. No game.
I still use it today. Now i get keyboards that allow key assignment on the board.
Nah adults only need the P,O,N,B,R,H,and U keys
1 is Watergirl, 2 is Fireboy and 3 is numbers
Kerbal players use all of these at once and it’s still not enough.
I still use the arrow keys
downvoted for not even including esdf
Ngl I know a guy who played WoW and moved with arrow keys and used the num-pad to bind his abilities.
Kids
Adults
*Lefties
Although no one uses the num pad in fighting games, some fighting game communities use num pad notation to describe inputs
Like “236 p” would be quarter circle forward and punch
you mean lefties ?

Brigham has died of dysentery.
Shouldn’t kids and adults be the other way around?
Kids grow up with Fortnite and Minecraft, while WASD is the general standard.
Adults were around for Wolfenstein 3D and Doom which was played with the directinal keys.
Legend’s were the Numpad-OG’s during the first days of gaming, I’m talking almost the entire catalog of the Atari ST and Comodore 64.
