Matthew Broderick killed a guy!
Tip of the hat to OP for recognizing that the Beatles version (awesome as it is) is a cover of the [Top Notes](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LsDpc-8iR8g) version.
this movie was so successful it caused this song to be on the charts again. so it was a top 10 hit in both 1964 and 1986
Fun facts about this scene:
Filmed during a real parade held annually in Chicago.
Several of the dancing spectators were real onlookers, not extras.
The group of dancers on the steps were in the *Thriller* music video.
Matthew Broderick had an injured knee during the filming.
I never noticed the triplets at 1:08 before.
Curious though why there are American flags on a float covered in ladies in dirndls and playing an accordion, looks Bavarian?
Back when people were happy and race wasn’t even an issue.
