Those are the faces of people who are like “we are going to steal so many of these goddamn things. I’m going to get a fucking slew of dachas.”
They are watching that Soviet classic, Stripes and colours. Good ole communist entertainment.
In Russia TV colors you
I wonder if anyone was brave enough to keep their shirt collar inside the work jacket?
They made it to our corner of the Eastern Bloc in the late 80ies, common practice was to place them in a corner and watch from the opposite corner as their CRTs (cathod ray tube electron guns for y’all newbies) used to randomly explode.
The one guy looks like Putin with hair
That’s a full week’s output. Well done, Comrades, well done.
Fun fact: quality control was so bad that stores often had to repair them right before sale. It was called “pre-sale preparation”. And in many cases happy buyer had to call serviceman few times after buying, and, basically all the lifetime of that freaking monsters (which was pretty long as they cost arm and leg, average price was 700 RUB, while average salary was like 150 RUB)
This is an album cover, isn’t it?
The Presidents of the Soviet States – album Televizor
Nothing like watching [Worker and Parasite](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=z2_dhUv_CrI&t=2s&pp=2AECkAIB) on one of these bad boys.
Zony
Ah, good ol days when three was one tv in whole village and one phone.
And the tv had like 3 chanels. Electronics were scarce goods, let alone COLORFUL tv!
Yeah, my grandparents and parents love to talk about how was it here during USSR times lol.
Pic actually from 2022 😉 modern russia
I can hear the 1kHz sine wave in the photo. Along with the high-pitched ringing of the TV tube. [shudder]
We got to move these refrigerators we got to move these color tvs
In the 1959 “Kitchen debate”, Richard Nixon said to Kruschev, “There are some instances where you may be ahead of us, for example in the development of the thrust of your rockets or the investigation of outer space. There may be some instances, for example color television, where we’re ahead of you.” Kruschev replied, “No! No way. We have overtaken you in rockets. We will overtake you in color television too.”
A bit dark history here. I had a colleague in states who had moved from Soviet Union. He was much older and had worked on CRT TVs like these. The emissions from the tubes gave Cancer to almost everyone who worked there.
What’s as big as a house, burns 20 liters of fuel every hour, puts out a shitload of smoke and noise, and cuts an apple into 3 pieces?
A Soviet machine made to cut apples into 4 pieces!
In Soviet Russia, TV watches you.
I wonder if Putin drafted any of these guys.
In Soviet Russia, TV colors YOU.
Young Putin
Solid album art
Hooray for Harry and Paul.
Mmmmmm. SECAM.
Is Putin in every old Soviet picture taken?
Tune it to channel H
I read way down. Surprised nobody said the second guy looks like Putin.
“Yo, Pietro, give me a little space here.”
Typo, 2022.
In mother Russia, tv watches you. HAHA
Double agent stare for ” Serioualy Chief?”
i feel like this could have been taken last week.
Wow, it’s the Russian la la la singing guy up front there!

This very well could have been 1990.
That’s an old school television.
We know about Russia pretty well, after seeing it perform militarily in Ukraine. Its about on par for being a 3rd world country, not a superpower the Soviet Union once was.
It looks like Putin in the middle.
Is there a source/link, with the details and history of this pic?
That photo was taken 7 days ago….
Pretty cool. I worked in what was once a Philips Colour TV factory. Some of the old production line survived, including an underground conveyer that moved finished products from testing to the store. Pretty sure it all still worked too.
The good old Raduga! It was a useful thing when you are planning to burn down the house.
In Soviet Russia, TV watches you!
Who else thought the 2nd dude is Tom Holland? 😂
They’re probably still making and selling that model
Are those standard-issue watches?
Is that Putin in that photo??
I wonder if any of these guys had a color tv at home
it’s a miracle it hasn’t blown up yet
