I bet those two pilots really, *really* enjoy being each others wingmen.
I love this channel, and this was so well done it took me a good minute to figure it out lol
At first I was thinking,”This feels familiar, I wonder if Top Gun was based on this…” then, “Oooooooooh, lol.”

At first I was like: There was dogfight in the Indian Ocean. Then I heard the callsigns and coupled with the F-5 paperdolls went ‘Oh Top Gun!’

I figured it out at “inverted dive” and recognising the F5s.
Fuck me! I was convinced this was real under literally the last line.
This is the only one that got me this year.
The MIG-28 does not exist, except on the movie Top Gun. Dead giveaway right there.
My favorite movie of all time. I’ve watched it probably 50 times. This was amazing.

I am so old I immediately thought hey that sounds familiar just by the title.
Besides, has the Americans and the Soviets ever actually shot at each other in the sky? I don’t recall WWIII in 1986.
Which was the other country? The video doesn’t say, only that they deny the incident.
Right from the beginning, I thought this seemed like the setup for Top Gun, but then I thought, meh, maybe Top Gun was based on this.
Then, he put on the brakes, and I was like, wait a minute. Either he missed a perfect opportunity for a quote or this is actually Top Gun.
Duh.
The Operations Room is full of fantastic content, highly recommend it for anyone interested in military history. The Battle of Mogadishu episodes are particularly good.
