I don’t really consider myself well off, but this just isn’t the biggest thing affecting me. Yeah, my gas costs a little more now, maybe I should just drive a little more efficiently, and plan my pickups in fewer trips, idk.
Didn’t think Jon’s videos would be popping up again on reddit after his controversy. I hope he’s grown personally because I still enjoy a fair few of his quick comedic video takes.
Addendum: if you’re in the Los Angeles area, make sure you have shots from the handful of gas stations in town whose prices are way over the average anyway. These include the Chevron in Downtown LA near Union Station, the Shell on La Cienega and Olympic in the Fairfax District, and the Mobil near the Beverly Center. Don’t bother showing actual prices from reasonably priced stations that most people go to; just show the ridiculously high prices at the stations that almost no-one except the uninformed patronize.
I wish I could laugh. Less than a week ago I spent $530 on a half barrel of heating oil. Since then it’s gone up an additional $1.50 per gallon. A little perspective, last year we spent just over $1,700 for the entire winter.
Added detail im shocked they didnt throw into the video given their choice of station is that these news stories will also pick stations with prices even higher than normal for the area. Theres a Kroger, a Mapco, and some smaller station about half a mile south of this one where the price is a solid a solid 40 cents less per gallon than this station (or at least it was 2 days ago when i gassed up)
Amazing how some of you negotiate this absurdity as fine or not a problem. Part of me thinks it’s politically driven, most of me thinks it’s ignorance. Gfl to you all.
This post brought to you by someone who is more well off than most US citizens, drives a tesla, and mocks others for not having an electric vehicle.

I used to get asked how far my EV can travel on a single charge. Now I get asked how much it costs me to drive it.
It was $2.50 for 100mi two years ago, and it’s still $2.50.
>Republicans: Joe Biden needs to freeze the buying of oil from Russia immediately!
Joe Biden: ok
>Republicans: WTF BRANDON why is gas so high? Socialism. Muslims. Buzzword.
Literally every news report about any topic in history. Irrational panic and anger always gets the views/clicks
They’ve become more efficient. I noticed “interviews” are only 1-2 second clips now.

Well, this is the first thing I thought of after watching this. Clearly inspired Ops video.

Gas is getting ridiculous. It now costs me 2.5 more Starbucks lattes than it did before.
Same with:
Financial news *shows sheets of money running through the printer.
Covid *syringes, and more syringes.
Technology *numbers/1’s/0’s scrolling…

My dad makes a comment or tells a related anecdote about gas prices every single time he sees a gas station price sign. Help me.
Exactly why I stopped watching the local news over 12 years ago…
PAIN AT THE PUMP
“Reporting live from the local pain pump.”
lmao I was in one of these
So accurate even down to the part where they always cut someone off in the middle of a sent-.
Way to ahead of it. On point.
“Pain at the pump”
3.79? Damn thats cheap!
I like this guy, where can I get more of him

This guy is great.
So I just started working last week at a local news station as a video editor, and is this spot on? Oh yeah. It’s insane.
Was this made by the Onion?
Anyone else infuriated the way he shook off the drips?
You can tell how old this is by how cheap the gas was.
Reminds me of Charlie Brooker’s [How to Report the News](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aHun58mz3vI)
I lol’d for real for once
lmao
Don’t forget to show the one station that every local knows is completely out of whack from the rest of the market.
Forgot the most common part
“Pain at the pump” is spoken in every one of these pieces
The Reddit propaganda for accepting higher gas prices to help Ukraine is ridiculous
This is spot on to all local stations in Richmond, VA.
It’s a funny video.
But fuck paying $5 for gas.
Everyone was bitching during the Bush years about it. And they should still be bitching about it.
Because it’s outrageous.

This stuff is where John B Crist shines.
Peak journalism folks
Tell me that you’re an obsolete media service without saying it.
Local TV: “Tune in at 10…”
Cool. Do they have a version for Halloween candy?
Fucking nailed it
So true

Part of the reason gas is expensive is crap like this. Perceived scarcity helps drive actual scarcity.
