I can see the pizza hut!
It always catches me by surprise how close they are to the modern city of Cairo. In my mind, they are in the middle of the desert for some reason.
It’s crazy how close they built up the area to the pyramids.
“Yeah you don’t see that in the brochure, do ya? Shitty old nappy whizzing through the air, they tend to leave that out”
-Karl Pilkington
Looks a snudge off
Bucket list golf course
Where is that fucking Pizza Hut at?
I guess you all know why the pyramids are in Egypt? Too heavy to move to the British Museum.
That sudden cut to sand dunes looks insane! 😲✨I wonder how they keep it separated that cleanly 🤔
Aliens
Those people are going to be upset when they return to earth.
ah yes, Khufu, Khafre and Khoca kola
My mother was just there on a church trip and she was amazed how they are basically in the city.
So I grew up in a house by the pyramids and I can literally see it in this picture! Honestly so much fun seeing this.
To the left is the Mina House and Mariott hotels and pyramids street. To the right is the Meridian hotel on Remaya square…
That sand erosion looks like it’s getting awfully close…
I was there in 1991 and it wasn’t so built up but I was still surprised by the golf course at the Marriot. Back then it was built up on the east side but the desert to the west seemed to go on for ever. Myself and my girlfriend came in through a Bedouin (?) village and I got a camel and the guide and herself got these Arabian type horses. So we went around the pyramids a bit, then started galloping around a bit, I didn’t realize camels could go so fast. Anyway I got left behind and my camel stopped in a graveyard, next to a garbage dump. I had to dismount and try and move the thing but it was not keen. So I was half freaked that she had been kidnapped and pissed with this stubborn camel. They eventually returned so no big deal. A few weeks later after touring the country we visited some Sudanese friends in Cairo. They had a great view of the pyramids from their balcony, it was awesome watching the sunset there.
Not to brag, but I once stood on top of that and synchronised.
That’s so funny, I’m at the pool in the picture right now!
Wow those buildings and complexes are quite large but still look tiny next to the pyramids.
So many Bass Pro Shops
Ahhhhh the Mena House hotel. Possibly the coolest place to have breakfast in the world.
That sand looks as high as those buildings. Is there a couple stories of sand before you hit the bottom of the pyramids I wonder?
Most people think these are the only ones. There’s actually many many more.
You have to give one thing to the pharaohs. The pyramids were an incredible success as a tourism and trade project. Burying someone in the thing was just icing on the cake. They put egypt on the map for thousands of years.
I stayed in that hotel directly below the pyramids in the pic (greenery in/around it with curvy pathways)
They baked me a cake on my birthday!
Unfortunately, Egypt doesn’t seem to take much care of its attractions, nor of anything or anyone, really. Not sure I would recommend it to others as a destination.
Luxor was at least a bit nicer
It wasn’t until last year that I realized the pyramids were on the outskirts of town. Weird.
Egypt has a reputation as being difficult for tourists. Don’t know if it’s true. Would love to go and see them.
Holy shit. assassins creed was not wrong.
It kinda looks like someone just hauled all the sand to that area, lol.
Kinda disgusting how much ancient stuff got uprooted for those modern buildings.
i don’t like sand it’s coarse and rough and it gets everywhere
Cool
At least I salvaged some production, but damn I wanted that natural wonder 😔
Too heavy to move to the British Museum.
Imagine slicing or duck hooking a ball so far you hit a pyramid. One Duat of a miss.
Needs more highways
Maybe in in de Nile but I thought there would be more sand dunes
Sorry, but could someone tell me where the Sphinx is in relation to this photo, please? Never been there and am just curious.
My dumb ass thought the pyramids were miles and miles from civilization.
Now the aliens can have Pizza Hut and play a round of golf after they land…nice!
What an insane view
Would love to play a round at that golf course
Don’t it always seem to go, that you don’t know what you got till it’s gone.
They paved paradise and put up a parking lot.
Civilization VI vibes
Did you know they had black lesbian midget queen? I saw it on Netflix.
Is that where that KFC/Taco Bell is?
Civ VII graphics lookin dope
