I was so bad at like driving properly in these games as a kid. I’d always try to ram someone into a wall but it always hurt my speed more. Unsurprisingly I was always better at Kart games..
I first played Dirt 3, and while I think it was less popular due to the gymkhana and motel arcade like controls, it absolutely blew me away. Loved the rally coursed and driving on snow and gravel. The rally cross was ok and I skipped the gymkhana completely
As the games got more detailed over the years, I became worse at them. When the engine couldn’t handle dense foliage, obstacles and traffic, they were just easier to manage. It’s absolutely in no way anything to do with my aging…
Hot take maybe, even though I’ve loved racing games for 30 years the driving in them didn’t actually get good until they started using realistic physics engines.
Rally championship 2000 was the best thing until RBR, and still amazes me with the sheer length of those stages, the fun mix of surfaces, and the terror of flickering headlights in the night.
Forza Horizon has some good rally racing. I actually prefer it to Dirt which is a purely rally focussed game.
Plus on forza you can do crazy races once you’ve run the race normal once. Everyone in a three wheeled van struggling to get up a hill that would normally be a small jump.
So good that RBR is still the best rally game
Colin McRae series being my favourite of them
I used to really like Corvette on the PS2.

sounds like someone did gamedle today
Anyone play Rally Cross on PS One? That shit ruled.

RalliSport Challenge was fantastic. Made by DICE with the same engine as Battlefield
Rallisport Challenge 2
This brings back childhood memories when I’d stay at a friend’s house and we’d play V-rally 2 on his dad’s PC circa 2003
ROLLING STAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAART

Race Driver: Grid has a special place in my heart, a good mix of real and arcade and the car damage made for some hilarious moments with friends.
What’s the game shown in the screenshot?
Anyone else play Screamer 2 back in the day? Loved that game.

I miss the original road rash
Power rally on mega drive was awesome. Forza 2 was the best and still to be beaten for online lobbies. S class Porsche Cayman was unbeatable

SEGA Rally Revo. To this day, it still has the best terrain deformation of any racing game.
Rally Trophy was great
Colin McRae, Rallisport Challenge 1 and 2, and the first two Dirt games were really good.
I remember this game, yet at the same time, I don’t think I know this game.
All I feel is nostalgia
Indeed they were
They where hey
There was one developed by Midwest for the N64 that just had such a sweet fucking soundtrack to go with it.

Ps. [d8vk](https://github.com/AlpyneDreams/d8vk/releases/tag/d8vk-v1.0) came out today. Helps with some of these old DX8 games.
Rally Cross on PS1 went hard!
Spent so much time on McRae 04 even though I was so bad at it when I was little. Loved wrecking my car on the Greece 01 map.
Hell yeah. These days I’m playing Dirt Rally 2.0 with a logitech wheel and pedal setup and it is just so damn fun.
Rally Masters from DICE is so nice!
