Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves | Final Trailer (2023 Movie)

  • I haven’t seen the film yet, but I’ve seen the trailers and heard all the positive buzz. My guess is, the reason this is a good D&D film, and all the previous attempts were pretty bad is that this film is an independent adventure story that works as its own scripted story and film even if you eliminated all the D&D references. In other words, its a strong, well written fantasy adventure, all by itself and they simply “plugged in” the appropriate D&D monsters or demons or whatever, to make it a ‘D&D’ film. (So it would have been just as good a film even without all the D&D references)

Anyone who’s seen it want to comment on this theory?

  • That trailer lost my attention after 15 seconds. There is nothing more obnoxious that “selected quote to gush about how good our movie is”, I don’t care if the movie is actually good or not, that sort of thing makes me not want to watch.

  • Saw this on Sunday at an early screening. It’s Guardians of the Galaxy with (more) swords and spells. This is a compliment.

The Paladin guy steals the show. He’s such a perfect wet blanket of a boy scout.

“The most Chris Pine a Chris Pine performance has been in a long time”. I love that this is a quote from a review that they used as a blurb. They know who they’re selling this thing to. Also, this is accurate in the best possible way.

  • It’s ironic that Reddit has a hate boner for this movie when it seems that Reddit would be the core audience for a dnd movie. Also remember so many corners of Reddit assumed maverick would bomb lol.
