>Upon receiving a terminal diagnosis, Sarah opts for a cloning procedure to ease her loss on her friends and family. When she makes a sudden and miraculous recovery, her attempts to have her clone decommissioned fail and lead to a court-mandated duel to the death. Now she has one year to train her body and mind for the fight of her life.
Starring Karen Gillan, Aaron Paul
Directed by Riley Stearns (‘The Art of Self-Defense’)
I saw this at Sundance. It’s definitely an odd, quirky product and some are going to find it off putting. Every choice in it has a reason behind it, but for some audience members it works and for others it’s too distracting. Regardless, it’s a recommendation from me
Like it’s similar to “Living with Yourself” with Paul Rudd. And for me, Paul Rudd made that enjoyable… and it still got cancelled.
I don’t know what kind of chance this movie has. Or maybe it will do what “Living with Yourself” couldn’t. Maybe it will show that series should have been a 90 minute movie.
Why don’t they just take the genetic material and then create the clone when the person dies? If they die, they won’t care. If they don’t die, then you can just discard the material or save it until they get a disease that is terminal.
I thought this was going to be much more action focused but this seems to almost be Wes Anderson inspired

Looks good. I’ll bite.
Art of Self Defense was one of my favorite comedies of the last few years, really looking forward to this.
Amy Pond

This looks amazing.
Love the deadpan delivery/comedy this seems to have. Excited to see it!
This has a “The Lobster” vibe. Cool.
>You’d have *two* Amy Ponds, forever! And then what will you do!?
Aaron “I’m responsible” Paul
Looks interesting. Has sort of a Black Mirror vibe to it with the English accents and dystopic feel.
so its like living with yourself with paul rudd meets the last duel
I wish it seemed funnier to me.

But I’m not sold on it.

The gun line fucking floored me given >!how pivotal guns are to the ending of THE ART OF SELF DEFENSE!<
This was my favorite from Sundance this year. Really great dark comedy
Matt Damon looks fucking weird yo
You had me at Karen Gillan
Filmed in Finland! Torille!
When he said “a properly trained human body is a weapon”. It sounded like Dwight from The Office
Love the shotgun cocking sound when she lifts up the crossbow.
I hope this doesn’t erode people’s ability to spell “duel.”
I hope we get a “You’re weak. I’m you.” easter egg line.
What are the odds that in the end we don’t know which one lived????
