After getting these games for their respective christmases, the soundtracks give me the most INTENSE rush of feeling like I’m in the living room 15 minutes after everyone has cleaned up the wrapping paper on christmas morning and we’re all enjoying our presents.
My mum is in the kitchen making trays of things to snack on and everybody is enjoying themselves. Uncanny.
My parents didn’t allow us to play video games until one year, my sister broke her leg on my uncle’s backyard trampoline. In his guilt, he gifted us a Super Nintendo with Super Mario All Stars and Donkey Kong Country. DKC was unlike anything we’d ever experienced and we were consumed by it and he Nintendo. It was a gateway drug to Nintendo Power subscriptions, rumble packs, and some of the best 90s video gaming money can by. To this day, I’m so grateful my sister broke her leg that day.
Like, that transition in the first thirty seconds, and done while constrained to such limited hardware, it’s just awe inspiring that they were able to do it.
David Wise ❤️
Donkey Kong games almost always have a killer soundtrack. Diddy Kong Racing was probably my fav, with this trilogy being a very close 2nd.
I still remember unwrapping this game Christmas morning

I forgot how good the soundtrack is, like @ [1:40](https://youtu.be/IwEyob2jmXI?t=100) that is legitimately an *amazing* beat.
Also, not mentioned in the video, but [Gangplank Galleon is a fucking work of art. This was made on the SNES.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r5aeisPAzM4)

No lies were told in this video.
2 minutes left, still hasn’t mentioned Fear Factory. 1 minute left, still no mention? Well, he’s gotta mention it before it’s over. Video ends:
┻━┻ ︵ヽ(`Д´)ノ︵ ┻━┻
I forgot how many bangers there were in these games. And to have it sound so good on such limited hardware is still a feat to this day.
Lol at the music you hear when you meet Santa in heaven and he gives you a million dollars
If you love dck2 soundtrack, check out Rebecca E Tripp’s 22 minute music video, god damned phenomenal.
He knew what he was doing not mentioning aquatic ambiance and the tease at the end.
I got that album on CD when I bought Donkey Kong Land for the Gameboy. I listened to it on loop for years, even my mum knows it off by heart I think
