Do you ever wish pro athletes would go out at the bottom rather than on top? Tom Brady, for example, could have realistically played another 5 years at a high level. He has shown zero signs of physical decline.

I mean he’s definitely declined physically, he’s just adapted his game to it.
I think it has to be their call. It isn’t just about the physical side of it, it’s also about the mental challenge of being motivated to still put in all that work, to still fight like your life depends on it. Some players will lose that at some stage.
I certainly don’t think players should worry too much about their legacy by retiring on top though. Their legacy will remain even if they play poorly for a few years at the end of their careers.
I wouldn’t call playing til you’re 50 realistic for anyone, but if anyone can, it’s the 🐐
