Dude yesterday I was playing strawberry shortcake on YouTube for my daughter while I was cleaning and I didn’t even realize but a 25 minute ad came on about some dudes taking over a fire about some stupid stuff. It played for like 3 mins before I realized it.
Am I the only one that doesn’t use Spotify? I tried it once, years ago, and the thrust seemed to be “listen to music and it tells your friends what you’re listening to!”
I don’t need other people to know what I’m enjoying, so I stuck with Pandora. And now I have a family membership with Apple Music, and I can’t think of a reason to use Spotify. Anybody?
If you’re on PC you should try Ezblocker, it mutes Spotify while ads are playing and unmutes it when ads are over.
It works great with audio ads not so much with video ones but still better than nothing.
“I’m sorry, as an AI Operating System outfitted with the Smart Volume package, I am unable to change the volume level at this time. Let me rewind 10 seconds so you don’t miss this very important message from our sponsor.”
That’s one of the reasons why I’ve been downloading music to play offline heck even when I am online I still play my offline music my phone is basically a mp3 player that can make phone calls and browse the internet as I primarily use my phone to play the mp3s that I’ve been collecting for a lil over 3 years now
Tried to listen to Pandora over my car’s radio; thought I was clever turning down the volume during ads because fuckem, but turns out they just increase the volume to compensate, and pause at 0, so loud as hell at 1.
Or the exact opposite, the add is super quiet so i turn the volume up so i can hear the video and at three in the morning my whole house gets to hear whatever weird shit I’m watching.
Back on my day there was this thing called Ares…
where’d those toys come from? 😮
Does spotify really do that ?
Spotify has ads?
Back in the day, tv ads couldn’t be louder than the channel’s program. Rule doesn’t apply to newfangled apps.
This is part of why I stopped using spotify.
All that pleasant relaxation from music gets utterly destroyed by the volume blasted ads.
It’s jarring and uncomfortable, so I just do music in other ways.
I’m pretty sure this is illegal in Italy and probably quite a few other European countries. I’ve certainly never noticed it.
Fun fact, it’s supposedly illegal to play ads at an unreasonably higher volume. So much for that I guess.

Humans want to enjoy the artistry of music, Capitalism ruins it. News at 11.
Ad-blocking software as a first line of defense, going ad-free via subscriptions as a last resort option.
That’s how I roll.

*Wanna break from the ads?*
Tried to listen to Pandora over my car’s radio; thought I was clever turning down the volume during ads because fuckem, but turns out they just increase the volume to compensate, and pause at 0, so loud as hell at 1.
And the internet connection is suddenly flawless during ads too.
Whenever I see an ad I stop whatever it is I’m doing on my phone and put it away.

Laying on the floor with a cheeseburger like David Hasselhoff
So loud the cheeseburger hopped over the car
This isn’t funny
