Ah, remember the days when MTV (Music Television) actually showed music videos? Pepperidge Farms does.
If I remember correctly, this was a whole movie, not just a music video.
Like a 1 hour movie that had some of the songs in it.
At the time no one else did it so it was pretty cool.
My family gathered around the TV to watch this thing. We were so excited.
We are further from that broadcast than World War II was when it ended.

Man, following his moon-walk spectacular, this video was a cultural sensation.
The full-length version was played constantly for a long time on all of the music video channels that existed in the early 80s before they all DIED.
Thriller was never one of my fav Jackson songs, being less entrancing than Billie Jean, for instance.
But it was a fun cultural moment.
My first cassette tape Santa brought for me. My parents didn’t like rock, so Santa brought me the thriller album and a Sony Walkman I didn’t have to share with my brother. I was 10. It was a very good year. 👍
Shit got real and was never the same.
I’m having a hard time not reading the title of “2th” as “two-th” in Mike Tyson’s voice.

I went to rewatch this and was amazed at how few dancers there were. In my memory there was a huge crowd of zombies. I always liked how they added(kept?) the sounds of the dancers’ footsteps & movements during the dance.
I remember that day! It was such a great video. My parents let us keep MTV on in the background for way longer than usual in case it came on again.
Aint no telling how much that red jacket is worth now.
I remember it being broadcast on network television the first time during primetime.
I remember that in french TV they weren’t allowed to show the video before 11 pm after the first airings caused a scandal (too gory 😂)
wow.. what’s crazy is i didn’t even know this, but i was just singing it earlier and dancing, reminiscing because my cheer coach made us do the dance for our homecoming performance. and i giggle because it was 2014, coach had her team do that same routine for probably 25 years. they finally retired it the year after and only because she finally passed the torch!
Seems an odd time.
And nothing was ever the same
I remember a couple of my friends and I sitting in front of my TV waiting for this to air. We were 12. What a fun time to be a kid.
