Debbie Reynolds, 1950s

  • A great photo showcasing the radiant Debbie Reynolds. Shots such as these contributed to the “girl next door” appeal that she had. With only three films to her credit, she was nominated for a Golden Globe New Star Award for her work in “Three Little Words.” A mere few films later, she starred in “Singin’ In The Rain,” (1952) at the age of 20. This would be her first starring role, pairing her with two established stars, Gene Kelly and Donald O’Connor. Though considered a modest hit at the time, it has since been called AFI’s Greatest Musical, and their #5 Overall Film. The standing of the film places it as one of the top MGM musicals.
