Back in 2007, being able to shoot trees and stuff. I thought awesome, in the next few years it will be more normal and static/non destroyable objects would be a thing of the past.
I don’t think I’m alone in saying that the first half of this game is *significantly* better than the second half. Everything after you go into the mountain is just way too linear to be fun when compared to the massive levels of the early game that provided a ton of freedom.
I wish all games were like this tbh, a great gameplay and destroyable environment. Imagine Call of duty but I can blast the wall a dudes camping in with a 12 gauge
Unpopular opinion here; I was there, 800 years ago when that ‘good game’ came out. Nothing good about it, it’s a prime example of gaming-gatekeeping. To own a rig that could run it was unheard of and it lost interest before it even had to time to land proper. If a game doesn’t make sure the average gamer can run it or it’s so unoptimizied that it’s a slow slide slow, then where’s the fun? Where? It isn’t there, at all. Games at the core need to be entertaining, Crysis wasn’t, it was a techdemo that had value, sure. But a good game? Then that’s a very low standard for sure.
Crysis was phenomenal, an absolute masterpiece. It is unbelievable that it came out in 2007. The gameplay was super fun, and the graphics where so far ahead of their time that I don’t think we will ever have another game like it
It was good the Multiplayer was good as well like battlefield with open big maps and lots of vehicles, custom maps too, then they did a cod style type close quarters no vehicles back then for crysis 2 and 3 and went down hill for me at least.
Swimming with the fish was so inspiring back then, pity the later releases never really developed the fun that this title provided. Exploring was a blast.
The game is seriously dated in 2023, the gimmick of playing if for the old can it run crysis memes are still true to this day but gameplay it feels like a 2007 game and you can get away from that fact.
Hot take: I really enjoyed the flying mission

Lol.
Crysis was also one of the most demanding video games on PC

Pity is what stayed bilbo’s hand

It was a landmark moment. Made me upgrade my machine.
I remember being able to run it, not saying it was running on high, but it ran. I remember enjoying the expansion more than the base game.
To be honest toasterd could run Crysis but on the lowest settings.

Yes, it was a great game. With great graphics, and the gameplay was good. Yeah, it was destroying my graphics card, but I still loved that game.
I always liked on the highest difficulty the enemies would yell in Korean instead of English. Cool little touch.

Oh, Crysis was amazing. Not just good
Not in DX10 with all the bells and whistles, no, that took a few years.
