Kind of feels like the story Chuckie’s dad would tell him if the mom really had a mid life crisis and left him for a guy that looks like Gary Oldman in True Romance
Nickelodeon really had some great shows back in the day. Hey Arnold was my absolute favorite, but a bunch of shows really set the bar high and weren’t afraid to touch on some darker/sadder stuff.
Chuckie had a different mom in one early episode before they decided to make her be dead. The one where Tommy has to get his ball over the fence with the big dog.
Was rewatching this with my brother and son now that I’m a Dad and this episode hit me like a bomb. Did not expect the Rugrats to send me to a 6 month pent up cry session but there we were.
I still remember being 5 years old and seeing Rugrats in Paris in theaters, crying over Chuckie not having his mom. Truly, the only movie I can think of it that had that big of an emotional impact on me at a young age.
Damn got my eyes leaking over here.
I just finished round one of chemo yesterday. I am in no shape to watch this.
Reminds me of this great [OneyPlays animation](https://youtu.be/iVitvXaWgoM)
Nope, not crying today.
I want a mom that will last forever….

Baby Chuckie’s tufts of red hair 😭

Well shit. That did it. Went all damned day and freaking rugrats is what did it.

An interesting 10 minute break down of the Mother’s Day episode https://youtu.be/4Yxcc5fAtlw

I remember crying watching this when I was like 8-9 years old.
😭
I do not remember this being this sad some 25+ years ago
Best show of my childhood. I so wish they kept the new show in the same animation style, I can’t watch it because of this.

😿
As a kid I couldn’t believe there was a doctor in the show called Lipshitz
