MLB let this nonsense continue for far too long. It was not until 1980 that they would get this under control.
I thought he would lightly shove his way past one or two people. I was not expecting him to be fighting off a swarm like he was in a zombie apocalypse throwing people to the ground. 😂
The Yankees would eventually solve this problem by hiring an NFL cornerback to join their team in the 1989 season.
Also, MLB added a rule (currently 5.08(b)) stating that walk-off hits will win the game “if fans rush onto the field and physically prevent the runner from touching home plate or the batter from touching first base.”
Imagine the shit storm if this happened nowadays
