What it is, is a display of how graphics are at their peak, and graphical improvements today are hardly noticable even when much more work and detail has been put into them, meaning game companies should stop trying to make games look better and start trying to make them actually function.
Tomb raider is a very good game in terms of graphic wise but it’s stealth system was poor imo (I love stealth games). But after playing MGS V, i think MGS V should be there instead of Tomb raider. It had the most awsm gameplay with awsm graphics.
The faves in Until Dawn are so realistic and expressive that it often approaches the uncanny valley, it’s so uncomfortable at points, fantastic game but god damn if you don’t feel guilty as shit as these characters get brutalised at times
I honestly never thought witcher 3 was a particularly great looking game, just good enough especially compared to the other AAA titles in its launch year as well as the ones in this picture. The difference between arkham knight and witcher for instance is quite staggering.
Not gonna lie, Witcher 3 is pretty but that’s because of art direction, it def looks “dated” in terms of overall technology when compared to something like AC Valhalla, etc.
I’d say out of all of these, Arkham Knight holds up the best today.
Until Dawn was a great game and it’s such a shame that two of the three games after it just lost the touch with making it all stupid psychological there is no killer shite.
The newest one in Iraq(?) was great when you actually had a supernatural enemy to fight.
Until Dawn looked very good but if I remember correctly that was in part because the FPS was low and inconsistent. Still a great game. I’ve got to do a no survivor run-through one of these days.
Until Dawn is still one of my favorite gaming experiences. Played the whole game between 8 pm and 3 am one night with one of my buddies. Jump scares are really fun with the right company.
Witcher 3 is great, but the graphics are definitely dated by today’s standards. I really hope CDPR update the lighting in the upcoming current gen patch.
I love Until Dawn! I love it so much I’ve bought all the Dark Pictures games even though none of them have had that same magic. My only complaint graphically is that the facial animations can be wooden.
I’m ashamed to say that I don’t recognize the top right one.
Uncharted 4 over all of them
Everyone’s forgets portal 2
It’s wierd how good the Batman’s games lighting is.
Until dawn was so good I just wish you could run or sprint in it! Only thing that put me off repaying it
My ladyfriend walked in whilst I was playing Witcher 3 and was like “oooo what game is- wait THIS is the Witcher 3?! I thought it was an older game?”
So true. It’s always looked amazing.

All tomb raider games look super good
unfortunately this only means that games stopped to become more and more realistic
Arkham Knight still holds up honestly. I think it’s the most fluent of the Arkham games and is almost on an equal to Arkham City.

Lol Shadow of the Tomb Raider in 4k/Ultra beats most games released until now. Hence why they always use that game for benchmarks

Detroit become human had superb models and facial animations, though its 2018, it will look good for the years to come imo, i mean its 2022 already.
Yo, the first Tomb Raider game STILL looks amazing
We’ve definitely seen diminishing returns on visuals the closer we get to photorealism. There is still a lot of work to be done though.
Halo 4 looked really good for 2012
2015 games were some next level shit
You probably should have picked a better example for Witcher 3 other than reminding me of Geralts weird wooden running animation
I think Crysis 3 is a good candidate.
Laughs in the order 1886
I thought that was TLoU 2 lol

I think Uncharted 4 deserves to be up here instead of The Witcher
Uncharted 4
I was going to say Dying Light still holds up in regards for graphical fidelity.
For real, Uncharted 4 has not taken a wrinkle. Game looks as gorgeous today as it did when it came out.
MGSV needs to be on this instead of Witcher 3
AC Unity
Tomb Raider is a beautiful game
Y’all forgot mirror’s edge
But why do we talk like 2015 was 30 years ago, anyway?
