Digital Foundry just had a little advice rant about this very topic on this week’s podcast.
I personally hate IGN’s video quality.
I guess it saves some time and they don’t bother to export with a higher bitrate and/or resolution, because ”it’s good enough” for most normies.
I actually talked to a guy last night that works in TV directing, and he said producing LIVE TV events in anything above 1080p HD is either extremely difficult or extremely expensive or both. But always extremely expensive(in comparison).
For instance, sports network ESPN stopped broadcasting in 4k because it’s expensive and, technically, niche for their programs. I imagine showcases are either gonna be paid to be shown off in 4k or not, and that they won’t have an on/off switch to show the game in 4k and flip it back to lower res for the stage talking.

Looks like bigfoot sighting footage
Aaaah the good old Capcom’s 1080p.
I’m a very big fan of MH, but they are lazy as fuck on a bunch of topics.
The problem is compression, resolution has nothing to do with how bad that looks.
