What a cool/weird design
Really awesome that it’s still in working condition
Is it yours?
The design seems pretty impractical and like it wouldn’t hold up, but I guess it has passed the test of time
I would love to see one in person
It is missing the part where the couple begins to argue about who is holding the right thing at the right time…but other than that, I would love to own one of these!
I hop it does not leak in rain. Very cool.
I’m guessing it is always kept in a garage when not in use?
OP, have you been rained on in this? I’m really curious as to how waterproof it is
Good job 👍🏼
Who’s the manufacturer? I’ve lived in the RV Capitol of the world a good chunk of my life, and I don’t recall any campers like this.
**camper started being set up in 1978 and was finally finished in 2023
origami haus 🥰
I prefer the ones that are already setup as soon as you get to the camp site lol
If the nighttime “activities” become too rigorous, the who thing might fall apart.
Ohhh yeah.. my wife would be totally fine setting this up every time.
Rumor has it, they’re still figuring out how to put it all back to this day.
Nice tent
Reminds me of the bit from R. A. Heinlein’s *To Sail Beyond the Sunset* about a convertible top on a car:
“It was a one-man top, just as the ads claimed. That one man was Briney—assisted by his wife, two half-grown girls, and two small boys, all of us straining and sweating and Brian nobly repressing the language he wanted to use. But eventually Brian figured out how to outsmart that top: Leave it up all the time. This insured good weather for motoring.”
I like portable things, and I grew up going on vacation with a caravan (house van?). I guess this one would be cool to have, if not needed to use a car to drag it around (mean, just use a regular caravan), but light enough it could be attached to a bike.
I would have LOVED to have gone camping while still living in California!!! Not so much while living in Texas….
This camper is bad ass!
Campers you pop up may seem like a neat idea, until there’s a slight breeze and wind starts blowing through every single crack. You’d be surprised how noisy it is when you’re trying to sleep.
Does it leak through?
I remember my parents had one of these, they were terrible
When I was a kid in the 60’s my parents had one the roof was all one and the sides were blue with white strips down it canvas. It had metal square tubing on the one side to hold the roof up while the canvas was unrolled and clipped to the base. It had a fridge and stove as well as cupboard that lowers down onto the floor when closed down. This is the inside showing the tubing

A big tent would seem more useful/convenient.
