  • Any educated American wouldn’t pick sides here because both have their pros and cons, both have valid reasons, and both have shitty history.

Obviously as American’s we’ll side with Israel due to political reasons, but in actuality the humans being affected by all of this – the people who aren’t a part of corrupt government, are victims on both sides.

  • There is no winning with choosing any side in this one. This has been going on for nearly 80 years, with breaks held together by shaky peace treaties.

These protesting I’ve seen in the US are the “cause heads.” They jump on a side and come armed with a poster board and marker. Most aren’t educated enough to understand that this goes so much deeper than anyone can really comprehend.

  • As yes, supporting Hamas whose charter explicitly calls for killing Jews all over the world and setting up another homophobic racist Islamic theocracy.
Israel has Arabs in all strata of public office including the Supreme Court. Which is the real apartheid?

  • As an LGBT guy, it’s interesting to see so many young western leftists (especially female and LGBT) at these protests. As if Hamas would have spared you. Your dead and/or beaten body would have been paraded through their streets while people spit at you. I believe Palestinian civilians deserve freedom, but that also includes human rights and freedom from their own government. Yet people only call out the Israeli government.

  • Now is not the time to hold a sign taking sides. Everyone’s main focus should be in stopping the violence, the hostage-taking, the desecration of corpses, the celebration of the murder of civilians, etc. Once we get those ducks in a row we can endure your unsolicited opinion about who is right or wrong in this intractable conflict that will never be resolved in our lifetimes.

  • The only way this literally ends is if there’s a God he comes down and lays the smack down on both of them and tells them how it’s gonna be and that they are both completely in the wrong.

Kinda like Dad did when you and your brother were fighting all the time.

  • Gentle reminder that I’m trying to spread around: Palestinians are not Hamas, Israelis are not IDF. A single civilian being killed, raped, kidnapped, or offended against in anyway is appalling. Don’t support anybody who says otherwise.

Edit; not replying to anyone now. Need to protect my mental health.

  • I feel like every protestor on both sides is acting as if they know the obviously correct solution to this issue and can’t believe that that’s not what’s happening lol. Like this shit is kinda complicated guys

  • Jesus man, the timing of this kind of statement is insane.

It’s a *fact* that Israel treats Palestinians like shit, commits humanitarian crimes, and holds them as second class citizens in their own nation.

On the other hand, it’s also a *fact* that Hamas is an anti-semitic, genocidal terrorist organization that just massacred a bunch of unarmed civilians to the highest extent in Israel’s history.

If it’s wrong for Israel to kill civilians, it’s wrong for Hamas. There is no justification whatsoever for this shit. If you say “oh, well Israel killed civilians too,” then that same logic can be used by Israelis to now justify massacring even more Palestinians. Where does this shit stop?

Kidnapping old people and kids is just disgusting shit. Videos of mangled, nude corpses of girls murdered by terrorists at music festivals getting spat on and degraded by Palestinians is **unacceptable.** Period.

Say whatever you want about the plight of Palestinians, but the fact is that the optics of what Hamas did is undeniably shitty. Like unbelievably. To stand around and go “well what about this and that” is just a roundabout way of providing excuses for an organization that uses the same verbiage as Hitler did when talking about Jews.

Go read the charter of Hamas and get back to me. Dudes have language you can’t distinguish from Nazis, and I’m not saying that hyperbolically. If they had all the power in the dynamic between Israel and Palestine, they’d execute every single Jew – man, woman, and child.

With that said – fuck Netanyahu, fuck the Israeli government, and fuck their own war crimes. Something in this conflict has to give. If it’s just constant back and forth brutality, then there’s nothing to gain from it.

  • I find it fucking hilarious when western women support Palestine. Like you realize Hamas and their supporters (Iran, hesbollah, etc) would torture you to death for wearing a crop top and booty shorts?

Of course Israel is filled with hate but if you support Hamas you’re braindead

  • Please note that this picture is from September (taken during Convocation) before the latest atrocities. The image is from this recent article: [https://www.thecrimson.com/article/2023/10/10/psc-statement-backlash](https://www.thecrimson.com/article/2023/10/10/psc-statement-backlash) (see the caption). Some Harvard clubs still hold indefensible positions (Israel is “entirely responsible” for the situation), but this image is from a month ago. The title should be edited to reflect that — otherwise this post is misleading.

I hope those holding up that poster now realize what they were really supporting and can have a more nuanced view of the conflict.

  • I think most westerners would have reacted the same way to John Brown style slave riots as they are to Hamas overall. Methodical, long-term extermination of a people and daily acts of cruelty with no media attention are more accepted than one short-burst of aggression which is more visceral but miniscule in scale by comparison.

  • Israel is in the unique position of being an oppressive but also actual victim, while Palestine is in the unique position of being run by terrorists with a point. Both have legit complaints about the other, both have long histories that earn sympathy, and both can show reel after rule of murderous acts and general cruelty perpetrated by the other. At this point, both fundamentally believe the other shouldn’t exist, after being made to pay and be humiliated for their crimes. So now what?
