I can’t imagine the relief both sides must have felt when they heard the war was over.
I was honestly blown away when I saw this scene. Read a ton about WW1 and couldn’t believe these guys reacted like this. They just seemed to shrug it off and move on.
Like one of the worst experiences humans had ever seen and they were like. “Oh good show chap, feeling a little flat without all the unpleasantness, oh well back to sweeping the chimneys”
Dude how hard was even normal life back then when this is their reaction to the end of trench warfare?
“Oh sure I was gassed many times, but those of us that survived were thankful that it killed rats that had been eating all the corpses. Well I say, it was quite an adventure”. Some exaggeration there (not an actual quote) but not far off.
Phew humans can put up with a lot when they don’t have a choice.
Serious question: does Britain have war museums like the USA does?
War can be an adventure. You might not know what to do after
> It was during that minute in nineteen hundred and eighteen, that millions upon millions of human beings stopped butchering one another. I have talked to old men who were on battlefields during that minute. They have told me in one way or another that the sudden silence was the Voice of God. So we still have among us some men who can remember when God spoke clearly to mankind.
– Kurt Vonnegut
End of war, not the end of the nightmares…
Great footage!
We shall never forget. Rest in peace lads.
What is this from?
id look like a 10 standing around these guys
