The members of Canned Heat were massive music nerds. Bob had said in an interview that they would travel over 2000 miles just to look for old 10 inch blues records. If I remember correctly Bob estimated that he had well over 10,000 back in 1970. Unfortunately, when he passed away most of his collection was sold off or destroyed, with some records going to friends or family
Edit: If you only know their big hits Going up the Country, On the Road Again, or Let’s Work Together then I’d highly recommend checking out the stuff they released with Alan Wilson on rhythm guitar, vocals, and harmonica. Alan is credited with teaching Son House how to play the guitar again after his rediscovery in the 60s.
Physical media collections were cool. You had an appreciation for things you just can’t have today. I’m happy I got to experience a bit of time before the digital music revolution.

The facial hair, the pants, the crates, the VINYLS. Much rad, very wow.
He would have just absolutely lose his mind at how lucky we have it with streaming music.
Blind Owl and Bob Hite. 👍

I love Canned Heat and I love this post. The love they had for this music was pure and true.
Damn, I didn’t know Zubaz were around back in ’69.
Ugh, those crates are beautiful! I can only find those ugly plastic ones, or pretty ones for $40 or more, each.
Cool pantaloon
