Do people buy them just for the event and then abandon them?
Step 1 open a used bike shop..
fuck all your influencers and cara delavigne
Notice how it’s all bicycles? The unicycle community would never leave a soldier behind!
Don’t people take them, clean them, wait a year, and then sell them to the next group of burners?
There’s at least one camp that accepts donations of unwanted bikes during and at the end of BM. Bikes are refurbished and resold or donated. Likely this has been taken at one of those camps. This is probably not the collected bikes left loose on the playa post burn but I have heard that it’s pretty common for bikes to be dumped.
If you don’t lock your bike, there is a huge chance that somebody might take it by accident. After that it becomes abandoned, since the new “owner” doesn’t remember where the switch happened.
How they fot back?
Why? Did they burn all the men driving them?

As cyclist I can’t watch the photo without inner pain
I thought burning man was partly about cleaning up all your shit after as you left?
I’ll take one
Cool. Gather them up and distribute them to kids in poor neighbourhoods.
Now i know where to go bike picking. Fresh desert bikes. yuppy to table ethically sourced
Burning Man has become a symbol of capitalism and waste
These are rounded up and refurbished. they are not left there
Another name for the pic- Bikes donated at burning man. Or- bikes being recycled at burning man.
I always thought Burning Man was also about mentally aware of the environment? Those attending always struck me as environmentally aware, but I guess not.
“Burning Man” is just a massive gathering of people with FoMO.
Let us pretend that the bulk of people attending this event do not go back where they came from and play environmentalist for clout.

The bikes are collected, repaired and resold/rented annually. There are collection locations and they look like this picture.
OP, /u/makeshifttransmitter is a repost bot
A lot of people here are posting positive messages about this, but everybody I know who has worked at Burning Man says “don’t leave your fucking bikes at Burning Man” so I can’t imagine it’s a good thing
Aren’t they supposed leave nothing when burning man is done?
