Is there any follow up on this? It’s been years since this happened. Had anyone found them or checked who these people are?
Clearly, it’s set up, but “she” seems really comfortable in a very public space. Is she known in the drag world? Or is she trans and going along with the setup of meeting the guy online just for the show?
Did they know each other before? Are they actually dating? Were they friends and came up with the idea together?
It was interesting watching that episode of Dark Side of the 90s when they talked about this show and how much of it actually was real and how they’d get people all riled up before hand and stuff. Obviously you’re gonna get some staged content cause it’s tv, but still this show was a blast to watch back in the day
There was a show satirizing this style of show, called “Night Stand with Dick Dietrick”. The difference was, all the actors were comedians, I believe the full thing was scripted, and the gimmick was just making fun of Springer-style shows (complete with the host having a hate-on for Springer). Funny as hell.
This was scripted. I remember this being one of the reasons the jerry springer show lost a lot of steam. Ever since the MTV spring break episode, when he was actually duped by 3 people and their bizarre love triangle story. They tried to carry that into the future shows, and lost viewers drastically. Now he’s a fake judge on daytime television.
The booing immediately when she walked out, the line read of “I’m a man Jerry.” Basically a laugh track when she tells him, big “OOPS” from the audience.
And on the shocking turn, the audience comes together as one at the end, chanting “Jerry, Jerry, Jerry!”
I went to school with Joby (yellow) in the early 2000s. I had already graduated when this aired, but it was still fun seeing someone I knew on Springer. Unfortunately, their brother (my grade) was a huge homophobe/bully.
She lives (well, lived here at the time of the show. Hopefully she got out of this redneck hellhole) in my town when this was filmed. She didn’t know this guy at all before the filming. They just told them the basis of the segment and put them on. I also know somebody else from this area that was on Jerry but it was a real situation with her husband, so it’s not all fake.
That mad lad. He’ll try anything once.
That didn’t look set up at all.
I was being sarcastic just then.

Can’t believe I thought this was real when I was a kid.
This was the fake internet videos before the internet
the look on his face was priceless before he said ” I’ll try anything once”

I’m pretty sure they stopped doing this kind of shit after that guy got murdered.

I thought you said you were from Iran!
I miss this show.
I also miss a time in American history when THIS was considered the most profane, vulgar show on TV.
By today’s standards, it almost seems quaint.
2:08 that “oh” in the audience killed me
The acting is really bad.
This would have been the most provocative thing on TV in the 90s. Now, it seems so innocent.
my gf has a bigger dick than me.
I remember this episode. It’s very heartwarming in retrospect. Sometimes Jerry was tapped into the future.
I actually watched this when it premiered and yes it was massively scandalous. This is why all the “PC culture” backlash bullshit is just inane to me.
Steeeeeeeve!
I’d recommend the redlettermedia video where they read the titles of jerry springer episodes.

JERRY JERRY JERRY!
Top notch acting right there
This was a fun show to watch lol Back then it was more believable which made it so much better.
That person’s jaw could cut glass.
Ha HA Jerry is the best!

I like the guy who yells ***”OOPS!”*** right after she drops the “I’m a man”
They might be actors on stage, but those reactions in the audience are real!!!
oh my god, this is wonderful.

Love has won.
Her voice reminds me of Lumpy Space Princess
Lol imagine falling in love online and wanting to meet and she suggests doing it on Jerry Springer.
“Hey baby, we should definitely meet up.”
“Why don’t we do it on the Jerry Springer show?”
“Okay sure, that seems completely normal with nothing weird likely to happen or unexpected surprises.
Lou Reed ‘ Walk on the Wild Side” and Jerry Springer, this episode will be remembered as pivotal trans moments in history.

When you fall in love with the personality before the person, nothing else matters.
Jerry’s smile at the end…
That is the smile of a man who knows the last 30 seconds of tape are securing his gulfstream jet.
