I would love to see David Attenborough feature on this channel. If i could see David Attenborough narrating bees not reacting to a banana I would never need to go on the Internet ever again.
So that background is that, when you piss off a beehive, bees release “alarm” pheromone which causes other bees to be aggressive. This is how they coordinate an attack against a hornet, for example.
Many beekeepers who have triggered a hive to release alarm pheromone will tell you that you get a quick whiff of something similar to the smell of bananas.
This video was basically proving the the smell of bananas is not what sets of the bees and that the pheromone just smells like bananas to people but bees can totally tell the difference.
The next video in the series, dude should spray some alarm pheromone on the bananas and stand the fuck back.
Edit to ad: Alarm pheromone is not the same stuff they use when making a beard of bees. If you tried to use it for that, you might die from bee envenomation.
I have seen a few videos on this subject because isoamyl acetate is the chemical responsible for the smell of banana, whilst also being the pheromone used by bees to induce other bees to sting.
In one, bees just eat the banana. I shall try and find it
Man, I was hoping that the “bees react” series was for real and I could spend a good while seeing how bees feel about various things. Maybe in the future.
I’d like to see bees react to a picture of Erling Haaland. Personally, I can’t decide if he’s handsome and hideous, so the bees’ input would be appreciated.
I loved the commentary so damn much. A+
Very wholesome
The bees did WHAT?
Needed peel-on banana for bees to go nuts
So how do they react to an old, black banana? Please join us next week!
Quality. Very informative! Must watch!
Now I want to see a box of bananas reacting to a bee.
I did not expect bees to react in that way
Thank goodness they added episode two, which includes a banana for scale to really mentally grasp the size of original banana and the bees!
This. This is what the internet *should* be about.
Dammit, I’m in
Very science. Will you publish your findings?

How would some bees react to how the bees are reacting to the banana?
Need a “reaction vid” for this video
Bee for scale
We need a reaction video to this
I thought it was banana *flavouring* that they didn’t like. Isoamyl acetate, apparently. Got any of that lying around?
5/7 would watch again
Banyanya!

What if they come at you with a pointy stick?

This is the content we need.
I’m fuckin here for it
Wonderful _and_ educational.
Of course there’s an episode 2 with banana for scale.
/r/notinteresting
lololll there’s another video the dude posted just 2 hours later; bees react to banana part 2 with another banana for scale rofl
Everyone thinks this is funny, but that banana was scared shitless.
Of all the ways I thought bees would react to a banana, this was one of them.
u/bob_the_banannna you are summoned
Well, I cleared that one out of my watch history.
Obviously they aren’t going to react to a banana. You’d need to use a more threatening fruit, like a kiwi.
Quality content. Take notes /r/newtubers
Maybe its not a big enough banana. Who could know? If only he had a second banana for scale.
