Mario RPG is one of the most perfect games ever made. The people who did the remake understood that completely. While seemingly 1:1, the game is riddled with changes and QoL. The endgame also has a surprise. The composers for the music of this game are throwing an artistic gauntlet down.
Octopath 2 was an incredible evolution of the original. While perhaps still too similar to the first game, the list of changes and improvements are a mile long. Just plain everything is better. I cannot wait to see where this franchise is by Octopath 5/6. The only soundtrack this year to even come within a mile of OT2 is, coincidentally, Mario RPG.
Just started OT2 this week. All the annoying bits about the first are fixed, there are extra things I never asked for that I really like, and there’s way more voice acting and some cool 3d shots. Hope you enjoy!
Currently trying to figure out a way around a bug that’s keeping me from progressing in Super Mario RPG. Might just wait and hope for a patch at this point.
I’m still at the start of Octo2, I need to find more time to play it, I didn’t even know Super Mario RPG had released! This has been a great year for RPG adventure games.
Great to see turn-based RPGs are still alive I’m a fan. Some other recent ones I like even better: Baldur’s Gate 3, Persona 5, Dragon Age XI, Final Fantasy VI Pixel Remaster
Octopath Traveler 2 has a bunch of great individual stories massively let down by the fact that the main characters almost never interact with one another.

I remember the original Mario rpg, what a treasure
I can sense your joy
Is that the actual box art? It looks like they’re getting their school photo taken, it’s kind of hilarious.
I’ve been playing Mario RPG Recently. It’s amazing, it’s just as good as the original!

Mario RPG definitely wins the ‘most boring box art’ of the year award.

Have fun OP.

Both masterpieces!
So was super Mario RPG worth 60 bucks? I went with dragons dogma for 5
