Wow, her coat is fabulous!
Oh cool! James Van Der Zee played such an important part of the history of photography and Black American history. Very talented, especially skilled portrait photographer. He lived a long & productive creative life. Was photographing professionally from 1915 to 1982, from being the signature portraitist of the Harlem Renaissance to photographing Basquiat when Van Der Zee was in his mid 90s.
Bit of trivia, in Mark Romanek’s film *One Hour Photo* many of the characters were names after prominent photographers (Yoshi, Von Unwerth, etc). The cop played by Eriq La Salle is named Detective James Van Der Zee.
Cross dressing does not necessarily mean queer.
Black Queer History Month now?
C’mon don’t BS…that’s Tony Curtis from “Some Like It Hot”!
