I loved Battlefield 2. Got the best maneuver in a helo I pulled off in that game. Was on TeamSpeak with my gunner playing the Sharqi Peninsula map and we suddenly had the MEC gunship(I think it’s a Hind, don’t know for certain, but I’ll call it that) come after us. We were low on ammo and they had the drop.
They’re chasing us, chipping away at our armor and I’m barely avoiding their rockets. The Hind’s TV missle had a near miss on us as we go by a building. Splash damage takes a chunk out of us. I get an idea and take us up and towards the construction site. As we get close I tell my gunner to have his last TV missile ready then I drop us almost straight down at the crane, dropping off on the throttle letting gravity do the work. The Hind takes the bait and goes after us.
Last second I throw the throttle to full and pull my flightstick back. Managed a full loop around the crane’s arm and when we were facing downward again, my gunner let’s his last missile loose and I threw all my rockets at them. It appeared the Hind chickened out and broke left, and were hovering around the site looking for us. After firing I got us out of there and my gunner got the kill, I also saw the hit confirmation that at least some splash damage came from my rockets.
We tried to go back to the tower to repair/resupply, but MEC took that post, so we had to run off and land to get our kits out to take care of it ourselves(he was support, I was Engineer). We lost the round, but have a great story.
While I think there were instances where a good pilot (jet or helo) could almost lock down a map, I otherwise felt it had the most satisfying gunplay of all Battlefield games. Later Battlefield games had a lot more run-and-gun, full-auto shooting. BF2 required a patience that I didn’t feel again until early PUBG.
man. back in my pc gaming days. this game came out when I was a freshman in highschool. bf2 and WoW came out in the same year, or very close to eachother. those were the fucking days man. but yea, bf2 was my shit. I was an amazing attack chopper pilot and gunner, even got top scores by flying and gunning myself lol. favorite map was Dragon Valley
BF2 was the first battlefield I played and thoroughly enjoyed it, also played quite a bit of battlefield play4free (f2p bf2 on the browser), a shame they closed that. I still have my hard copy and it has the minimum system requirements on the back, a pentium 4 and a 128mb gpu haha.
Battlefield 2 was fantastic.

Yep, also Project Reality
BF1942 is the correct answer.
Desert Combat mod was good too.

Seriously BF2 was some of the best gaming days of my life man.

Yes and special forces!
BF2 is *THE* best of the entire series – discussion over.
Karkand 4 ever!
karkand, jalalabad…… kids these days will never know how war was back then….
Bad Company
BF2 special forces is a shining example of **how to do an expansion right**
1942 and this were great and all the mods… The Golden years of BF!
I really liked BF2142. Hover tanks oh yeah
BF1942 was peak Battlefield
This can’t be BF2, neither soldier was dolphin diving
BF1942 secret weapons, BF2, and MoHAA were my shit back in the day
Got to be honest, for me everything after 1942 was just trying to recapture that buzz.
And, equally honestly, I can point at moments I’ve had in almost every battlefield game that delivered that buzz.
The game is important, but battlefield has always been about playing as a team.
Which is why it breaks my heart to see Dice do everything rhey can to drive team players away from 2042.
1942 was amazing
1942 best
KUMBULA!

Best voice acting imo. I much prefer Chinese speaking Chinese, Arabs speaking Arabic. Instead of starting from BF3 Russians speaking English.
2142 for me
Gulf of Oman + Strike at Karkand all day long
No, Desert Combat mod for 1942 was peak battlefield. Closely followed by the first BF Vietnam.
BF3 and BC2 were peak Battlefield for me. I played these games for maaaany hours
