Back when “video games” were an IRL social experience, even the single player ones.

Seriously I hope more companies bring back local multiplayer since some households only have one console but have multiple users. Recently I played fighting games with my nephew and niece and I remember how fun that experience was.
I love borderlands split screen
Some of my favorite memories are from hanging out with some friends and playing smash for hours. It’s a shame a lot of new games don’t have any type of local multiplayer now.
I mean, maybe w my friends, but I don’t want most of you fuckers actually inside my house.
You leave my mom alone.
Local multiplayer is great, but as an adult that moved far away from some of my friends, the ability for us to still play games over vast distances is pretty great too.
I’m not saying I disagree, but what is this boomer ass meme/title combo? Please return this to Facebook where you found it
I miss LAN parties.
Adulthood is an ass: Distances, jobs and own families. We still manage to get together and play Micro Machines like we used to. Not as often as back then, maybe two or three times in year and almost always not as a full 4-man party.
I remember back in a days I also played HoMM 3/4 with my friends. We played coop as children against hard AI as a hotseat or custom maps we made ourselves.
The wildest thing was with my friend when we decided to play Spiderman the Movie Game on one keyboard, he was controlling the movement and I was in charge of the actions. It was chaotic, but awesome! You just can’ go there anymore…
As much as I would love for this to come back, people who experienced this as gamers are probably now in our 30’s-40’s and have no friends who hang out anymore.
I haven’t seen my best friends in 3 years, and I’m sure this is the majority case for most folks nowadays.
That still happens
coff coff Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Shredder’s revenge coff coff
Old good new bad
Couch multiplayer games are still being made. Overcooked, Moving Out, Very Very Valet, Lover in a Dangerous Spacetime and KeyWe spring to mind.
This acts like those days are long gone. A lot of us simply got older and have jobs. If you put in the effort, this can still be a thing. There are plenty of modern couch co-op games out there, still.
It still exists, it’s called local multiplayer..
Old man yells at cloud
local multiplayer is a lot of fun, but I would actually say that online is better as it allows me to still play games with my friends. The benefits of online gaming outweigh the benefits of local gaming,
Yeah that’s great, stop looking at my screen, you were facing away when you yelled out of no where and turned around and shot me.
Stop, looking at my screen! AAAAAAAAGH
i remember those times too. playing online is nicer and more convenient, but it’s nice to have options
Cry me a river, old man.
shut up boomer
Are we seriously doing boomer memes right now?
I got to ask. Who is the pink hair lady? I know everyone else in this except her.
Friday and Saturday nights with my brothers and cousin playing Mario Kart, Goldeneye and WWF Wrestlemania 2000 were some of the happiest times of my life
Playing Call of Duty MW2 in 2007 was a new age of experience and fun
Warzone 1 in March 2020 was an amazing time as well
Just meet up with your friends at one place and play online MP like that
Already did it twice this year ^^
Ah.. things change. For me this kinda situation was almost never the case, just 2 or 3 people at most. And now things are pretty cool too in their own way. For example it feels like the whole world is playing Zelda with me right now. Everyone sharing their crazy creations, memes, advice. Same with Elden Ring some time ago. I love the way things are now as well. And sometimes you hear about people getting a LAN party together again. It’s still possible to go old school if you really want ^^
I can’t roll my eyes any harder. There are still split screen games coming out.
Local is lovely. But far-away multiplier is useful when your friends aren’t your neighbours
damn they were good times
you would just take your controller to your mate’s house and plug it in and you were away
Only two in the picture are playing.
Strange to see space channel 5 lady there but I dig it.
This is the way it should be. Online multiplayer is fine and all but I want to see friends faces when they get roasted.
So many great games to play with your friends growing up. Friday night sleepovers where we never slept. Just going on all in co-op games like Chip n Dale’s Rescue Rangers, Rampage, Double Dragon 2, TMNT the arcade game, Battletoads, Altered Beasts…
A pleasure to see master Vivi again!
two player playing Medal Of Honor on PS1 was fun
They still can be. I’m glad I can play with friends who don’t live nearby, though. Weird gatekeeping is weird.
Hey dude, come over and let’s play some Final Fantasy!! I can play while you read the text on the screen, it’ll be awesome!!
Those were good days, i miss them
