I remember how excited I was for this. It seemed like the perfect retro gaming machine. After that, I remember how much of an issue it was just getting the damn controller to connect. I think I played earthbound on it once and then just never looked back. I feel bad for all the people that fell for this.
I’m generally saddened to see how expensive and profit-motivated retro gaming has become these days. I remember when it was still feasible to find good deals if you knew where to look. I was a kid then so they where still expensive to me anyway, but now that I’m an adult with money it’s just….fuckin worse.
I will never understand what got people so hyped about that Kickstarter, especially when the women who handled their marketing always talked like the biggest huckster.
Until I saw the price and some comments I assumed you were laughing because it’s “Ooh-yeah”, but I could also be mispronunciating it. Yes, that *is* a real word.
I bought one of these when they came out. Deeply regretted it so much. Got it to turn into a retro gaming console but the controller is so bad alongside the fact that the thing is so under powered. It was just very bad.
Local pawnshop had one of those Xbox 360 peripheral HDDVD players and they wanted $120 for it. After years and years and years of it just sitting there with a half dozen HDDVDs I offered them $20 for all of it and they gave it to me for $10…..
Weren’t these only like $100 brand new, when the service was still up and they actually did something? So now pay $50 more for a brick that can’t play games or connect to anything?
I backed on Kickstarter, I was pretty excited. Then I got it and the games available were so weak. I realized I bought a Console for mobile games, and then got sad.
My dad told me to clean out their tv stand because it has a lot of old game stuff that nobody uses (all of us kids have moved out). My old ouya was in there in the very far back lmao. Forgot I bought one.
As a former thrift store employee, I can say with 90% certainty that this item was priced by a 60 year old woman who googled the name of it once and slapped on the first price she saw.
Those were good little systems for indie devs. I played a bunch of neat little games there. But damn did they blow the launch and find new exciting ways to piss off the gaming community. So much potential just set on fire. sad.
My thrift store will ask $5 for an XL crate big enough for an adult great dane, but ask $50-75 for used Wii Fit boards in the box. Anything game related always overpriced. Then sold me a vcr/dvd combo player for $3. Looked at me like I switched the tag on it lol.
I miss the days when you could pick up old gaming stuff at good prices at thrift stores
didnt they collapse and their servers tank
I feel horrible for the struggling mom that buys this for her kid.
I would genuinely love to know how they marked this up. Did they have any clue what they had in their hands?
This now serves as a relic. A relic of failure.

haha I mean for the price you could get an Ras Pie 4 have it run faster for cheaper lol

isn’t that more than their initial asking price?
Best I can do is $20

Man, I still have an unopened second controller.

I still think that controller actually looks pretty comfortable. I’d like to get my hands on one.
My local thrift store has an indigo GameCube with a madcatz controller for $199.99

I’m a Kickstarter backer of this bullshit and even got an extra controller, poor decision but something to talk about at least.
I was among the first 100 backers for this, closer to launch it got the bigger the shitshow became.
Ended up being solid for emulation and XBMC, but the system itself was weak with an even weaker library
149$ where is that value village? Like what they probably think its a ps3 or something not a oddity collectors thing XD.
