I think this is quite cool. I don’t know what he’s singing, but I like the musical changes, perceivable chord progressions, and, of course, the frequent returns to traditional sounds.
You know, I almost never listen to stuff I’ve never heard of that I see on reddit. Something has to really catch my attention and “African Folk Metal” was just weird enough to do it haha.
I like it! I like the melodic aspect and the unusual percussion. I hope you go far.
This is pretty awesome, thanks for sharing. I’m a little surprised at how… familiar it felt? Usually metal from other parts of the world has a very different feel, especially from eastern countries like Japan or Korea, there’s a different feel to the rhythm and melodies because of centuries of different cultural influences. I think it speaks to how deeply embedded in the roots of American blues rock and metal are the influences of African folk music. It feels familiar because it’s already been part of what I know and love, and it makes me excited to seek out more from this group and others like them. I think that’s a really cool thing about cultures interacting with music.
Why did the font have me sat here for like a solid 30 seconds trying to figure out how this was related to Avatar the Last Air Bender…I mean I know WHY but also why…
I found these guys a few years ago, and they’re awesome! I really want them to make more music, their riffs are solid and they’ve got a great heavy thrash style sound.
Holy shit this is awesome.
Really reminds me of, *Mate, feed, kill, repeat.*
Dude, thanks for sharing! I love it!

Metal grew out of genres that started with African drumming. Hearing west African cowbell in metal makes a lot of sense!
Awala fuckin slaps
Man that whole country Africa is doing some real neat things with music
Woah I was just watching Blood Diamond last night and was thinking about this genre lmao
Thank you for this! Just bout the album from iTunes!
Thanks for this man! Take care you all.
Ok – that is a total earworm. I’ll be hearing this in my sleep for sure.
Sounds fucking great, thank you very much!
Awesome! Definitely going to give the album a listen.
I love these guys. I discovered them while looking for something else and like them better than what I was looking for. Go support them on Bandcamp.

Yeah this is good! Thanks for sharing!
I’ve fallen down a rabbit hole of different cultures’ metal bands in the past year and have just added their album to my playlist. Thank you !!!
Fantastic! Been listening to 70s African rock inspired by Black Sabbath – this will rock that play list! Thanks.

Well, SOMEBODY else was listening to Fair to Midland and it was definitely these guys.
Great example of “I would not choose this but I appreciate the fuck out of it”
I had no idea I needed this in my life
Since nobody else checked, the band is Togolese and mix English, French and Ewe.
