Unpopular opinion, but KQ Mask of Eternity will always be one of my all time favorite games. Maybe it’s the nostalgia since I used to play it with my dad but it was the foundation of gaming for me as a kid.
I was born in 1991, beside the NES and SNES my earliest memories of video games was playing these games with my grandma. She was always so ahead of the time with computers. We also played A LOT of Monkey Island. Such simpler times.
Played the absolute crap out of this game when I was young!
I remember getting stuck for a long long time on the cliff face where you had to select the runes that spelled ‘up’.
Eventually dropped the game for a year and ended up coming back to it..only to realize the rune translation was in the game manual. >.< Finally finished the game after that.
Very fond memories..kind of makes me want to play it again!
Kings Quest, Space Quest, Police Quest. Even Leisure Suit Larry. Played them all growing up. Heh, LSL was my older brothers game. He didn’t know i played that one. I was waaaaaay to young for that one.
Omg… this whole era of Sierra games was the absolute best. Kings Quest, Quest for Glory, LSL, Police Quest, BCs quest for Tires, Lode Runner, and Football Pro. I played them all. I
One of my first games as a kid. Don’t remember the sequence in the series, but it involved Cedric the owl, a desert, a witch in a forest with scary maneating plants
/r/Sierra of course. Wonder how far I could get without a guide today. Could not get past the sight guy of the sense gnomes. (you had to have found >!the discarded bottle of invisible ink!<) I remember random bits here and there.
Also whether any puns or wordplay only make sense now.
Oh! And climbing the mountain actually took precise clicking, unlike lots of climbing today.
Omg knife throwing harlequin, and death from sleeping on cemetery intensifies… Btw anyone remember similar quest with same gameplay but about space? You started in pilot(I think) academy and protagonist wasn’t ready for the exam so you needed to peek answers from other students?
Oh God, yes, King’s Quest I was the first game I played. Then Police Quest, Space Quest, Larry, Hero Quest (my favourite). Taught me English and how to type.
Great series! Especially the first 4.
Love it!
I loved 6 so much, I would love to find a complete copy of it eventually.
Yeah I played the shit out of 3 and 4 when I was like 12.
Best ever!
Nostalgia just whacked me in the face like a meat tenderizer
MY FIRST IS FOREMOST LEGALLY
MY SECOND CIRCLES OUTWARDLY
MY THIRD LEADS ALL IN VICTORY
MY FOURTH TWICE ENDS A NOMINEE
I played 2, 5, 7. I remember the huge floppy discs.
The reboot game was actually pretty good as well.
Get mutton
I have fond memories playing the original King’s Quest on my Tandy 1000EX (currently in my family’s basement). It was a magical era of gaming.

Loved playing this series as a kid. I wish they would remake them for console.
Hoping the series gets a remaster collection along with a new game. I really like the newest episodic adventure, but I’d really like a new full game.
I sometimes sing “Girl in a Tower” to my kids as a bedtime lullaby.
I stopped at 5… I preferred Space Quest, it was funnier…
3 was great, 4 was the best by far. I hate the Whale’s tongue situation. So annoying.

My very first computer game! I love that there was a long version and short version.

I played through VII several times as a kid! Never did get through Mask of Eternity though lol
1984 or 1985, played on apple II, never had the chance to see the end.
Someone forgot to tell the minotaur not to skip leg day.
It was 5 I believe that had a puzzle that was timed and if you missed it you had to restart the game.
Enjoyed them overall though
Man Sierra games. Amazing promises, amazing box art, amazing times, and the most frustrating and impossible game play ever.

Kings Quest, Space Quest, Torins Passage – all favorites of mine.
Great series
King’s Quest V was my go to growing up. I remember that weeping willow fondly.
Omg knife throwing harlequin, and death from sleeping on cemetery intensifies… Btw anyone remember similar quest with same gameplay but about space? You started in pilot(I think) academy and protagonist wasn’t ready for the exam so you needed to peek answers from other students?

5 was amazing…. Finding a needle in a haystack 😂
“Heir today, gone tomorrow”
That’s a god-tier pun right there.
Ah… man, RIP Sierra, those were some good games
BRACE YOURSELF CEDRIC
It’s no Space Quest IV
I do miss old school game covers like that, they looked nothing like the actual game, but had some fantastic art.
Click adventure games were my jam as a kid. Myst, King’s Quest, Police Story: I loved all of them.
I had this game. Lost the booklet and couldn’t solve the climbing wall puzzle
Don’t forget to pick up the stinky fish from the barrel. I actually don’t remember which one I played but whichever one it was… it was brilliant.
Lotsa love from me. I have been watching speedruns of a few too
