It’d be great to have Ramsay cook for you. I don’t think that ever happens anymore. He has 58 restaurants. They might all be great, but Ramsay will never be cooking for you.
I am hard pressed to think of a place where a world class chef actually does the cooking for you. Doubtless there are a few but they are rare.
What a great little time capsule, thank you for sharing! Would have loved to have seen more of the conversation between Tony and Chef Ramsay hinted at in the end of the video.
Bourdain has great taste and is an excellent food critic and finder of hidden gems equal to his cooking ability. His ability to enjoy local food without pretentiousness is unparalleled.
Cook’s Tour is so great, it feels so goofy and authentic because you can tell nobody involved knows who Bourdain is and he seemingly just has one dude with a shitty camera following him around. Most of the time they just get some random tour guide who speaks english to show them around and end up in a bunch of old lady’s houses, cooking them meals.
the later shows are good but Cook’s Tour is really special
Anthony Bourdain with Michael K Williams going to Gloria’s in Crown Heights, a small Caribbean restaurant, and then Jamie Hector randomly walks in off the street is one of the greatest TV moments ever.
I am sure all these dishes would still taste great, but kind of funny how outdated they all look. Weird how the idea of what looks gourmet/fine dining changes so much
Bourdain was the epitome of cool. A world class chef who was *never* pretentious. Never above eating a ball of hash candy from a street vendor in Morocco, or a pecan waffle at the Waffle House. For Anthony Bourdain, it was all part of the experience of life. You cannot have Le Fouquet without the taco stands of Mexico. It all works together to create a vibrant and wonderful world. I miss his insight, and his worldviews had an immeasurable impact on my own.
As someone who grew up going to Sizzler, for me no Bourdain clip beats the one in which he and David Choe go to a Koreatown Sizzler and chow down. His giving the thumbs-up to their delicious cheese toast was like him giving the thumbs-up to my childhood.
The two seasons of this, that El Bulli special, and early seasons of No Reservations are the best TV Anthony made. Anthony’s sincerity, inexperience, and anonymity made it very special. I would love to have Cook’s Tour on Blu-ray.
“He’s not a name brand, he’s a hands on chef.”
That didn’t age well…

This totally reminds me of Diners, Drive-ins & Dives
‘sauteed foie gras’
I mean i’d still eat it, but i heard what they do to the duck lol..
got any more like this?
I loved Bourdains “No reservations” so much. It was just a great show.
“Why would you become a cook?”
– Norm MacDonald, to Gordon Ramsay
Man, Anthony Bourdain was such a treasure. What Asia Argento did to him is terrible.
I eagerly await ramsay’s frozen meals that i can buy from my local supermarket!
It’s interesting to compare his earlier work (like this) with his later work where he seems like much more of a natural story teller.

Bourdain was a fucking treasure.

Oof. It hurts to remember he’s gone, and that he ended it. Rest well Anthony.

Two gods of the culinary world….
I miss that guy so much.

God I miss this man, he can make pretentious food sound amazing, and a meal at the waffle house sound like a Michelin star meal
I watched this video while eating frozen white castle sliders![🙁](https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.0.3/svg/1f641.svg)
Love how gonzo the show was back in the day. Fish eye lens everyone leaning in. Tiny cramped kitchen. Cramped dining room.

Was that before Gordon Ramsey became TV famous?

“But let’s see how this man can make a grilled cheese sandwich”
I miss him so much
I still haven’t watched his series, but based on everything I know about this man, he left the world too soon.
…but did he have a reservation?
