Angela Vs Bath and Body Works

  • This is what people are doing with their lives post Covid. 2 years in seclusion and this is what we took away from the experience. Inkesss this is a joke in which case nicely done

Edit: I think I butthurt Reddit from my joke and typos

  • Wow. That people post this stuff and think it makes themselves look good or whatever is astonishing.

Reminds me of the time I was working at a bookstore and a customer came in saying that we had called her that morning to say the book she ordered had come in. Right away, I knew this wasn’t so because it was Sunday and (because this was in the south) our store’s policy was to not call people on Sundays. But I went to look for her book on our special orders shelf anyway and it wasn’t there. So, I checked the back room; wasn’t there either. I looked up the book in our system; no record of the book ever being in stock. Looked it up in our special order system; no record of it ever being ordered. Asked the customer for her name and phone number; she wasn’t in our system. Not only did we not order her book, it would have been impossible for us to call her and tell her it was here.

“That’s impossible,” she said. “I *always* order my books from here.”

“I’m sorry, but you’re not in our system. Would you like me to go ahead and re-order the book,” I asked, throwing her the bone by saying re-order when I knew it had never been ordered from us in the first place.

“No, this is just ridiculous. Why did you call me if you didn’t have my book?”

“Ma’am, we don’t make calls on Sundays. Is it possible you ordered this book from another store?”

“No, I *only* order books from here. I want to speak with the manager.”

Manager comes out and handles the customer and I go back to work while trying to think of why this person would come in with a clearly impossible claim. Was she just insane?

    Then I remembered something.

My Dad, God rest his soul, never once got the name of the bookstore correct in the four years that I worked there. You see at the time, there was a competitor chain of stores that also started with “B” and my Dad always called my store by their name.

So on a whim, I called the nearest competitor store, identified who I was and explained the situation. The book was there. In fact, the customer had regularly ordered from that store and presumably purchased her books there. The kicker? This store wasn’t even *close* to our store. It was some 20 miles away and in another (larger) city.

My manager, far more diplomatic than I could possibly be, called the customer (using the phone number I had obtained earlier) and let her know that the book was at that location. And the customer (to my knowledge) never darkened our doorstep again.

People like her and the person in the video above simply have no idea how much they are hated by the people who interact with them on a regular basis. It’s sad, really.

  • I’m unfamiliar with the geography of Wisconsin but I looked it up and Appleton is only like a 25 minute drive from Oshkosh. Also, from her own words, the employees seemed like they were apologetic and did their best.

  • Angela, calm the fuck down, they’re candles. You’re talking to minimum wage retail workers who deal with bullshit every day. You’re a fucking Tuesday to them. From what I can see, they made a small mistake that anyone could. Who fucking cares? Watch your Packers and STFU.

  • Im just sick and tired of being lied to when a company needs an excuse that they were not able to fufill what they promised. I worked for a property management company and cant count how many times I was told by managment to use Covid as an excuse. When they break promises, they should appologies whith thier wallet, instead of plane baseless appologies from there lowest payed employee. It costs me time and money just to attempt to do buissiness with you, stop offsetting the costs of your incompetent mistakes on the customer.

  • Guess I’m too American because I’m with Angela, especially depending on how far she drove. Called multiple places, finally found one that has the product you want. You drive 35 minutes and they don’t have it. Same shit happened to me when I was looking for an Xbox Elite controller and it was very annoying. And she could’ve probably been bought off by a $10 gift card.

And that’s not even getting into the cashier being rude.

  • “Person in back of you” makes me mad. Just like something happening “on accident.” It’s not grammatically correct even a little bit! Stop! Americans, why do you do this?
