okay so as I understand the theory behind brass instruments, the notes you can play are directly related to the length of the resonant tube.
Partials become integer multiples of the fundamental note, right?
So how is he hitting notes that aren’t octaves, fifths, or thirds? How is he hitting accidentals?
I know that partials get closer together as you climb through the octaves.
Is it because the tube is so long that the fundamental note for that horn is *really* low and what we are hearing is actually several octaves up already?
That doesn’t sound very battle-y until he hits that low note. awesome shape though, I can’t even imagine how much force he must need to blow into that seeing how long it is
It just dawned on me that I have no idea how trumpets and horns work. Your breath isn’t loud, so how can something without any added energy make it so loud?
Magic confirmed. It was under our noses the whole time.
How does he change the pitch?

I understand that tensioning the lips provides some measure of pitch control.

Just to clarify I assume this is a replica and not and original ancient instrument?
Hearing a few dozen of those horns hitting that last note in a battle setting would be really intimidating. Inception “braaahm” kind of vibes.
Oh so thats what my neighbours upstairs are always playing.
This is cool, but i think the carnyx wins.

What, no Herb Alpert?

musica de cornu
How did they make such an item?
All I can think of is cornucopia.
Goosebumps
What in the Dr. Suess-fuck is that?
“Oh, you meant ‘how often do I think about ancient Roman battle horns?’ I mean..every fews days or so.”
the glissando is a cool effect
This person is very talented, but I was really here for the Christopher Nolan BWWwwaaaaa at the end
Haunting. You couldn’t be sure if it was help or hell coming behind that sound.
