Now add a depreciation and power consumption marginal cost element.
Doin the math; Out of 22 months , you spent 2 total months playing.
Even after the price of a computer investment and Internet and energy costs you are still looking at a cheaper return over the years for a safe hobby. And a lifetime collection of games you could pass on to a new generation.
I looked it this for so long, trying to figure out how you determined ELECTRICAL cost per hour… Lol.. Then realized what you did.
Hey Spoole is that you? Miss you mate x
15 hours of Stardew Valley, did you only play through 1 season. Rookie numbers.
I like this.
I want something like this for myself but I don’t want to put in the effort of making a spreadsheet for it.
It’s funny because my list would be almost the exact opposite. I have a few hours in Battlefield 1, couldn’t stand it. But I have 300+ hrs in No Man’s Sky, most of it in VR. Hundreds of hours in Elder Scrolls Online. I made a valiant attempt to like Warframe, but I gave up after about 8-10 hrs. And I have sub-zero interest in Madden and Fifa, you’d have to pay me to play them instead of the other way around.
I assume you bought Terraria 5 hours before making this sheet.
How did you stomach 45 hours of Battlefield 2042?
Your Valheim stats are extremely offensive. I would like a NSFW label on this 🤣
Btw for steam you can also easily do this using this website: https://steamdb.info/calculator/
“cheapest” game for me starts at 0.02cents per hour (The Binding of Isaac) and 0.03 cents per hour (The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth)
This cost per hour stuff really sucks. Some great games are on the shorter side and if people only consider this sort of value they’ll never experience them.
Dang, valheim wasn’t really your game was it? thats the most surprising one on this list for me.
No love for God of war? One of my favorite games of all time. Fully beat it twice.
Add over 1,000 games to that list with 90% of them being played for less than 5hrs and that’s my life. More addicted to buying than playing these days
What didn’t you enjoy about monster hunter world? Also was it your first monster hunter game?
BF1 has been your most played game, and you started in *late 2020*?
I didn’t realize these games were even active that long after launch
Even the games you barely played, I’d consider that cheap entertainment.
But is every hour of playing if equal enjoyment or value?
I have played at least a hundred hours of solitaire but it is not more valuable than even a 10 hours of Cyberpunk or some other big game.
My dude, you need to finish Little Nightmares…
Highly recommend revisiting death Stranding, I know you’ve probably heard it a bunch and saying it gets better the longer you play isn’t a ringing endorsement but 15-20 hours in is when that game gets great
u gotta get back into no mans sky the new updates are super fun
I see people talking about rookie numbers, don’t worry, it proves that you do other things than video games. Unlike myself who has 5k hours on TF2, 1.3k on Minecraft (atleast), and 1000 on all other steam games combined.
i thought this was task manager
No Red Dead???
Damn, I got my copy of W3 for 20 bucks and my cost per hour after 3 playthroughs must be less then a penny
At first I thought this was about power consumption in a given game and was trying to figure out why some games that aren’t rough on GPUs (like Jackbox) got such high numbers.
I had the derp.
You’ve only spent around 9% of your time gaming, as well.
Halo Infinite: 1
Yeah that’s about right.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who does this shit. I even use $1.00 as my threshold of value.
Now I want to do this with every game I’ve got on steam.
Based BF1 player
I think this is great metric for the savings you make for a PC. But I also think anyone who talks about play time like it’s the most important thing is kinda weird. I definitely wanna get value out of any game but sometimes it’s more than just the amount of time I’ve played
How does anyone only play 15h of Stardew?!
BF1 is goated. Such an amazing reinvention of the franchise. I also spent 100s of hours on it.
1500 hundred hours total? *Laughs in Destiny 2*
did you convert from another currency to USD? a lot of the prices seem very wonky
Rocket league wins in a landslide for me for best price per hour. $20 back in 2015, 1800 hours later…
I use to complain about buying games.
Until a buddy of mine said.
“If you get 1000 hours out of a game for $60”.
“That’s $0.06 per hour of entertainment and fun”
Or you can spend $70 at the bar for 4 hours… Clearly gaming is the better investment lol
Should try factorio or rimworld next. But it’s a really great spreadsheet, puts things into perspective.
Is it not missing one important item? The cost of your pc?
If you went crazy it would include an electricity cost too.
Only 24 hours playing the Witcher?
Terrible numbers
For a minute I thought you were calculating electricity costs per hour of game played based on power draw needed to run a certain game. Which now that I think of it would also be a really interesting thing to see.
All those games and no Skyrim or Dead by Daylight… smh
Im like that if i get lower then 1€ per hour its good
You must not have enjoyed valheim to only play 4 hours
