Beautiful
One interesting fact about ospreys is that they are the only raptors (birds of prey) that dive into the water feet-first to catch fish. Ospreys have evolved several adaptations that enable them to catch fish in this way, including sharp spiny scales on the soles of their feet to help them grip slippery fish and a reversible outer toe that allows them to grasp prey with two toes in front and two behind, much like a human hand. Ospreys are also able to close their nostrils to prevent water from entering when they dive into the water, and their oily feathers help to repel water and stay buoyant.
These guys are a common sight in my area around this time of year. They chase the bald eagles away.
Great shot, the timing is fantastic.
I refuse to see this as anything other than a highly symmetrical, four-winged bird monster that is equal parts derpy and terrifying.
That is such a clean and crisp shot! Good job!
Please consider posting this one in rMinimalistPhotography also.

Can’t fool me OP. This is a sideways picture of my parents fighting.
Took a few seconds for my brain to adjust to this image. Amazing how beautiful these birds are. Great Pic!
Agile, mobile and hostile!
I remember playing some kind of educational “fish simulator” game as a kid, on like Apple IIe’s or something, and if you (as a fish) hung around near the top of the lake for too long, a fucking osprey’s massive-ass talons would come down and snatch you the fuck up.
Biblically accurate osprey be like

Laminar vs. turbulent flow…
The Hannibal Lecter of fishkillers.
Be not afraid
See, this one is good.
That’s one hell of a photo!!
Awesome shot. Amazing timing
Love the pic. As osprey are my favorite large bird of prey! Id this a normal behavior or it just hunting a fish?
The gap between the water surface and the osprey reminds me of something, but I can’t quite put my finger in it
Reminds me of my [favourite scene](https://youtu.be/NILdh7hl7ZM) from the best of the Harry Potter movies.
was fishing in my kayak in Ferguson Lake (lower Colorado on the CA side) and was back in a shallow area when an Osprey splashed down about 40 yards ahead of me. scared the crap out of me and took off with a 3lb bass in its claws. it landed high up on a hill for a minute, then it flew circles around the cove holding the bass like a torpedo. the bass had its mouth wide open like it was screaming. coolest thing I’ve seen out there in a long time. we see them often, but I had never seen one get a catch.
Biblically accurate angel looking mf
Amazing picture!!! Incredible!
Fun fact on birds – they fly in the air.
That is fucking incredible.
Fucking incredible shot! National Geographic award !
I’d do this type of shit all the time if I was a bird of prey
Biblically accurate osprey.
biblically accurate angel vibes ngl
