Shocking. Things mean different things in different places. It’s not their job to explain their culture. If your unfamiliar then don’t judge when you travel. If you assume everywhere everything is the same. Stay home. True and utter facepalm
Edit: my bad guys, didn’t see which sub this was in and thought it was serious. My bad 🙂
These processions are often rituals connected to Catholicism and mostly part Easter, as part of the symbolism of the death and resurrection of Christ.
These traditions existed way before America existed and so have no connection with KKK, beside the fact that KKK used them to push their shit propaganda.
For clarity I am European, not Religious.
Yes, Religious groups has/had many wrong doing but one of this is not wearing hoodies.

Oh please, this video setup.
First, try to turn your phone when filming.
Then don’t pad sides of your video to it landscape.
This is awful.
I recently went to Scotland and got a good chuckle at some of the pub names that absolutely would not fly in the states such as The Last Drop, where the decor is a bunch of nooses, and the Clansmen.
I can honestly say that I’ve lived 36 years, about half of which was in the South and have never seen a Klan robe. I’ve talked with Klan members as part of my work in cable tech support. And they all were over the age of 50. Just a bunch of lonely and miserable old men. Certainly not scary in any way. The KKK isn’t as relevant as politicians, and the media would have us believe.
Americans are so hillariously focused on their own brief history. XD
Reminds me of the first time I saw the Procession of Torches in Goiás, Brazil.
American here claiming ignorance, what’s the actual context of the guys in white robes and hoods? Monastery order or something?
Joy Division IRL

To be sure, be hooded is not exclusive to KKK.

I am from Europe and even I don’t know what they are doing🤷🏼♂️
She has successfully infiltrated the secret headquarters!
Maybe if I keep real still and keep my hoodie up they won’t notice me…
*looks at phone, psheev its 2023*
I was so freaking spooked when I first saw some videos of this shit…
Confused intrigue.

It’s a bit like Israelis /Jews visiting India and seeing swastikas all over the place.
The Klan being anti-Catholic is pretty damn funny since white hoods are used in Catholic services
Americans need to get a crash course in “you are not the center of the world” before leaving their country.

Americans visiting America.
I mean, she is basically wearing the same outfit…
I saw this Seville, Spain once. Pretty cool tradition.
Girl run for your life
She put up the hoodie, acting like the invisible girl from fantastic four while looking around and her eyes sayin ‚do they see me?‘
Wait till you see zwart pete
Ah yes Spain is the entirety of Europe. Also just because the americans have the KKK doesn’t mean the rest of the world does.
