Alan Wake 2 and Baldur’s Gate 3 tied for most nominations is a huge feat for Remedy. Hoping they bring some wins home

This year is so stacked I’ve yet to play Alan Wake 2 yet, but I’m sure they deserve it from what I’ve seen.
I’ve been playing Remedy’s games since Death Rally as a kid and I’ve yet to run into a game of theirs I didn’t like.

Damn HiFi Rush almost made it
Super disappointed Armored Core couldn’t make it almost anywhere.
Also what is with the minor categories being a mess every year.
I’m legitimately happy for both Remedy and Larian. Amazing year of games and they both poured their hearts into these games.
It’s been an insane year for gaming.
I appreciate that objectively these are great nominees. I thought there might have been some games that could’ve gotten nominated that would not deserve it just because they are big players in the industry. It seems like that’s not the case. Of course not every game could make the cut this year.. But it has been quite the year.
Glad to see Cyberpunk in there, CDPR really brought that one back and made good on their promises to make a universe we will love.
Poor Starfield.
One question I have is why Mirage not considered; haven’t played yet but many are saying it’s good. Is it not in the correct year?
Also should cyberpunk 2077 and Resident evil 4 have nominations. They are really good but they are a remake, so what are your guys thoughts on that?
Only five for Zelda? Wow. Not saying it’s unfair, but it would have been so unexpectedly low at the start of the year. I guess that means the leven this year is that high
AW2 riding the wave of recency bias, great game no doubt, just don’t think its generational great like BG2.
Bg3 all the way. Haven’t had a game like that in I can’t remember when.
Alan Wake is overrated as fuck. Its just because it was the latest Game to release.
Also what fucking crackhead nominated Spiderman 2 7x? That Game is mediocre as fuck, but I guess they have to suck Sony and Nintendo cock so they keep sponsoring this garbage.
Street fighter 6 deserves a win
So no need to be Epic sellout.
Alan Wake 2, not starring Alan Wake
There are only two original novel games on the list. And of the sequels there are only two 2nds with every other going up to 6. Or more if you consider Mario/Zelda.
As much as I think BG3 is overhyped, it’s still fantastic and at least they didn’t sell their souls to Epic because “how else would we survive”
Make great games, market them. We will buy them.
AW2 came out of left field to really throw a wrench in the GOTY talk. IMO it innovated and pushed more boundaries than BG3. They’re both stellar games and both worthy of the title.
HIFI Rush got snubbed for GOTY nominee
It would be a crime for Alan Wake 2 not to win Best Direction.
>Hi-Fi Rush with 5 nominations
I am happy. It’s my personal GOTY, and I played a *lot* of games this year. Pizza Tower was really the one that got robbed.
There’s some weird dissent in here i didn’t expect about alan Wake 2.
Dismissing it as Artsy and collage kid cringe while praising BG3 is so weird.
If Artsy Collage Kid shit is cringe; so is make believe childish fantasy super hero fulfillment.
I loved BG3, from its freedom of choice, character customization, the sheer wide-casting net it -nailed- throwing out is fantastic. That game deserves it’s love. Truly. Yet for narrative, it had a wide reach, that certainly goes deeper than many recent RPG’s, it doesn’t hold a candle to how -deep- how focused, how mind bending, genre defying, story rich and impresive Alan Wake 2 is.
My first pick for GOTy this year was Resident Evil 4, and I kept the candle there for it until Alan Wake 2 decided to be in the same genre, and give me a story that had me thinking, asking questions, trying to understand what it’s story means, and could mean. It says jsut about as much outright as it implies. Which is a whole fucking lot of -stuff-.
This isn’t recency bias. this is a story-driven video game that telling a story that made me feel, and think and sit kinda worried when it was over as the Last of Us all those years ago. Where a game, that honestly, didn’t -play- greatly, it wasn’t the best thing to use my gamer brain to do gamer things with, it was the best -story- I consumed this year. I can’t say the same thing about Bulders Gate, because it order to make the story more compelling in that game you need to play it differently, you need to sacrifice other aspects of the story, or some of the game play in order to achieve something grander with it. You don’t need to do that in Alan Wake 2, the purpose of the game was to tell us a really compelling, fucked up story. It nailed that.
I feel like this is a huge win for Larion, not Remedy. A legit CRPG getting this kind of praise and recognition is huge. It’s not like the genre is full of bombastic AAA financial successes.
Not to mention the previous game in the series is something like 20 years old now. Alan Wake 1 was much more recent.
How does cyberpunk have nominations?
Spider-Man 2 did not feel like a game that should have 7 nominations imo
Glad d4 wasn’t able to “buy” some nominations… they already bought enough spam pr and good launch reviews for that pile of crap they call a game
So happy for Remedy. LOVED Control and it’s why I bought Alan Wake 2.
Where’s Starfield? Oh, right.

Man I need to get around to starting AW2
7 Billion dollars for an exclusive IP (the first from the studio in blah blah years) that got less than 3 nominations.
How are games that just came out like 2 weeks ago already nominated for so many awards??
Wow… After the hype around TOTK, he was nominated in only 5 categories?
Are Starfield and Jegi Survival participating in any nominations?
That’s 10/10 games, Todd
If there’s a category for best atmosphere, Alan wake 2 takes it by a mile.
Agreed. Alan Wake 2 and BG3 are my top 2 of the year, super pumped for both teams
The standard recency bias at play, games released close to November tend to get more nominations. I am surprised that Hogwarts: Legacy failed to get a single nomination though.
Alan Wake 2 will surprise everyone
BG3 is a 6.5/10 for me so far (early act 3). I’m not understanding all the praise.
Alan wake 2 isn’t good thenaindont even talk to you
Alan Wake 8 nominations lmao, the game is good but nowhere near BG3

Zero Nominations: Starfield
Super Mario Bros Wonder does not deserve game of the year
